@@Samuel.C428 , here are some fun facts for you to know in your life. The options for the Chevrolet Chevelle also fit perfectly on the Chevrolet El Camino. Moreover, there was also an SS option for the Chevrolet El Camino as well, as my ex-stepfather owned one such vehicle (well, he also had a 1972 Chevrolet Nova SS, but I was talking about the vehicles that were built upon the Chevrolet Chevelle/Malibu platform). Finally, if neither a Chevrolet Chevelle SS or Chevrolet El Camino SS are affordable enough for you, then you can get the highly underrated Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS, which was only available from 1970 to 1972, and only 1970 had the same power plant as one of the most powerful forms of the Chevrolet Chevelle in the SS 454 form, or the even more underrated Chevrolet Biscayne, which had all sorts of crazy power options, including access to, as well as full compatibility with, the most powerful engines of the Chevrolet Malibu/Chevelle line, including the same 6.5 liter, and 396 cubic inch, engine that powered the Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396, the same 7.0 liter, and 427 cubic inch, engine that powered the Chevrolet Chevelle SS COPO 427 and Yenko (Chevrolet) Chevelle L72 427/425 HP, and the same 7.4 liter, and 454 cubic inch, engine that powered the Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS6.

*_EXTRA ELKY FACTS:_* -GMC made a sister car called the Sprint, later called the Caballero. The "SS" equivalent was the "Sprint SP" and the Black/Royal Knight equivalent was the "Caballero Diablo." -Choo-Choo Customs Inc., of Chattanooga, Tennessee made their own "El Camino SS" package from '83 to '87 by giving the Elco the aerodynamic front fascia of the Monte Carlo SS, a medium length bolt-on cowl induction hood scoop, and in many cases special side skirts. -In 2008, Pontiac released for public viewing what they called the "G8 ST" (ST meaning Sport Truck) based on the Holden Ute. It was slated for a 2010 model year release, but was halted due to budget cuts and the eventual death of Pontiac. This would have been GM's first U.S.-sold utility coupe since the El Camino's retirement in 1987 (with the death of the G-body platform) and it could have meant the possible return of the El Camino. @Art Lira, my ex-stepfather had a 1969 Chevrolet El Camino SS (it may have been a 1968 Chevrolet El Camino SS, but I could not tell at the time), but it was black and it was horribly besieged by rust, but he was too poor/lazy/drunk/stupid/drugged up to ever properly fix it, or his 1955 Chevrolet Apache, 1967 Chevrolet C-10, 1968 GMC C/K 1500 Longhorn, 1972 Chevrolet Nova SS, or his 1964 Dodge Polara Max Wedge for that matter. My sisters also owned some sweet rides, as did my mother, in their cases, a 1975 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, a 1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, a 1976 Chevrolet Camaro, and a 1978 Plymouth Volare (coupe version, the trim that was below the Road Runner trim) for the oldest sister, a 1978 Oldsmobile Delta 88 and a 2005 Nissan 350 Z for the younger sister, and a 1967 Ford Bronco (before I was born), 1967 Chevrolet Malibu station wagon/estate car/shooting brake (I think, and also before I was born), a 1976 Chevrolet Caprice Estate station wagon/estate car/shooting brake, a 1978 Datsun 510/Datsun 1300/Datsun 1500/Datsun 1600/Datsun Bluebird/Nissan Bluebird station wagon/estate car/shooting brake, a 1980 Volvo 260 Estate station wagon/estate car/shooting brake, a 1977 AMC Concorde (which is essentially a four door version of the underrated 1970-1977 AMC Hornet), and a 1980 Dodge Aspen (sedan/saloon version) was what my mother owned, respectively. A neighbor of mine in the middle 1990s had a 1972 Ford Ranchero GT.

My first car, in 1987, was a 1969 Chevy El Camino. My dad and I dropped a 350 cu. in. engine in it with a Rochester 4-barrel. Everything was stock...except for the glasspack muffler that made it sounds even more badass than it already was! I won my fair share of races in that car, and many teen girls took rides with me when we cruised the strip in my high school years! Teens today have no idea how fun that was.

If they do the Commodore I'd see it as nothing more than either a little tribute or the beginning of the end for this series, a sign that we're running out of cool and interesting cars. And why the Commodore when there is a more interesting and sportier variant in the Monaro? That would make more sense and be more interesting, how often do you see a Monaro compared to how often you see a Commodore?

If you can get a two door truck to hold a full sheet of drywall or plywood, and then make it a car, there's a frickin' market for this, Chevy/Ford! Think about it, lower ground height and smoother areo, with fuel efficient engines, can be dreams of the jobsites again.

Imagine Chevy Ford and Dodge 1500 pickup long bed but with a lowered roofline , about an inch more ride height than a car, and a air leveling system in the back. And lower the bed walls a notch to make it easy to reach over. I’d buy it. However, two door pickups aren’t a thing unless you’re a fleet or a dealer is willing to hand you an order form.

I got a 73 Elky SS with a 454 engine, and it of course was somewhat detuned for less emissions, but I hear that all that LS5 big block Chevy needs is a higher lobe cam shaft to give it more horses and more torque. The 1970 El Camino SS had an LS6 big block and had a cam shaft with higher lobes, which is probably the cam shaft I would want for my 73 LS5 big block, but I don't know that for sure, still researching that. All I can say is that I love that 73 of mine, it's the biggest and heaviest one that Chevy ever built. What a ride!

The fact that GM never brought the Holden Ute to the US as an El Camino makes it look like the Elco is never getting back at all.
@benno_3607 жыл бұрын
bizarrely they did build left hand drive Holden utes after the reasonable success of the pontiac G8 Sedan and either they were shipped or the boat was turned around i can't remember the full story but it was peak GFC and GM canceled the order. So Holden took the pontiac utes and cannibalized them for parts. They de badged the pontiac fronts and you could buy the twin nostril pontiac fronts as an option on your holden. Think they called it a sports front or something. It didnt look as good as the holden but it did look meaner and made your ute stand out from everyone else's. But its odd they were going over as pontiac G8 Utes and not the rebirth of the El camino under the Chevy brand.
@jromero07417 жыл бұрын

@benno_3607 жыл бұрын
JRwinchester it's cos of your "chicken tax" manufacturers can make a higher profit building larger trucks with certain chassis sizes that classify them (loosely) in the category of farm machinery. If they built Utes they'd be built on a sedan frame and subject to sedan taxes and probably come out as more expensive than a much larger truck. That's why they were planning to sell the Ute as a limited run Pontiac thing so they could make money on them. Low supply/ collectable. Sort of a "sports truck" if they tried to sell them broadly in larger numbers they'd be sales flops because consumers would get far more metal For their money in a F150. Idk the full story of the chicken tax but it's something to do with Russia and imports and now is more of a loop hole manufactures use to move cheaper trucks. I think it's also why Toyota US won't build the Hilux because it's classed too small to avoid the taxes. So they build the Tundra instead. US consumer tastes can't be ignored as well. Bigger = better, that sort of thing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
@jromero07417 жыл бұрын
Also pissed about the hilux. Im a huge toyota truck fan. But i thought the newer hilux and tacoma shared everything just cosmetics? That and because of our obscene emissions we arent allowed to have the diesels.
