i read a story about a guy who killed his wife cold blood stabbed her 30 times..he got second degree murder and 12 years in the pin..and he walks free as we speak ..and I've heard of cases in money laundering and tax evasion where the penalty was alot more ....life sentences and millions in fines etc..so it seems that hiding money and not paying Uncle Sam their tax money that they demand is alot worse than killing a person ...hell my neighbors son was killed by a drunk driver who had 6 previous d.u.i charges he got 15 years something is very wrong with the judicial system..

But sentencing is also based on ill intent and premeditation. The guy who stabbed his wife was probably mentally unstable and did it in the moment the fraudster planned it for years. the murder is obviously 100x worse but that's how the justice system works. Very sad about your neighbors son but the driver was not intending to kill the kid. It was an accident, an accident that was his own fault but still an accident. 15 years is a very long time, it would probably be closer to 5 years but he is a repeat offender like you said.
