I fought wildland fires.... This video shows what spotfires do. This video shows extreme fire behavior wow!!!!!! These firefighters are very brave doing their best to fight fire. I did the ground and pound; type two hand crew. Digging fireline that's the only way to slow down the fire. Spraying water doesn't slow wildfires.

Looks like they are trying to maintain the fire line and some flames jumped across. You see them call in a water drop west side on the hill where you see a small patch of flames. They are working their asses off trying to prevent rhe fire from jumping. Heroes

Great video. When you are in it, sometimes it’s hard to get a sense that you’ve lost that one and might as well abandon and reposition. From the time that first spot went up mid-slope it was lost. I’ve certainly been there, battling futilely when the fire is racing up the hill. Looking at this now with a bit more perspective, seems like you might as well wrap up and do structure protection on whatever you could save. SoCal fires!

4 months ago. Me and my mother where in big bear at an airbnb. From the 2nd to the 4th. Unfortunately felt like we didn't have enough time to there. But had a weird feeling we had to leave. And get home right away. Taking the 38 way up and down. Was such a beautiful day and drive. And boom the next day this fire was born. Was quite unbelievable seeing the area we literally just drove through destroyed.

All because of record high temperatures. Winds gusting at 40 mph. 5% Relative Humidity. Huge build ups of dead brush involving pyrophilic vegetation. A firestorm waiting to happen regardless of whether it be a gender reveal party. A shorted out transformer. A tree branch landing on an energized power line. A lightning strike in a dry (producing no rain) thunder storm. A firecracker landing in dry brush. A tossed cigarette butt. A dangling chain sparking on pavement. An ember from a grill or firepit. And so on....

@@marcbyrnes293 Certainly conditions here in California exacerbate wildfires, especially in the summer, which is why it's so frustrating that people do things like set off pyrotechnics in the forest. One fireman has died, several are injured, property has been destroyed, and it's really hurt the tourism in Oak Glen and Big Bear

Hardline is absolutely the worst tool in that situation. Limited water flow due to friction loss and a 40 gpm kk nozzle. The worst thing about it is the time it takes to roll it back up. You need to be able to disconnect it or cut it. Hardline is almost impossible to cut easily. In that situation you need to edge fire the road and aggressively chase spots if safe. The spotting distance did not look safe on a couple of those. If you fight vegetation fires please try to avoid using a hardline on fire attack.
