So the craziest thing about this to me as a drummer, is the end of the chorus. He’s got two sticks playing 16ths with his right hand, his right foot using the dualist pedal for 8th/16ths, his left hand is switching between snare and hi hat and finally his left foot is hitting the upbeats on the hat pedal…. I can’t even explain how much concentration that takes 🫨

On the Drumeo website, it said that over 80000 drummers have enrolled to his course. Not a typo. Eighty thousand.

Teoricamente :)

This was one of his classic videos of sheer technique and tasty choices. I would have trouble citing any song he's covered where he hasn't given it an unique spin or improved it. He's amazing and incredibly versatile and hard working (he's also really funny and a guy you'd enjoy having a beer with). Yesterday, I listened to his new band doing a live stream of some studio recording they were doing on Twitch and I was impressed. These are original compositions. He's the drummer, of course, but there is a guitar/vocal guy and a bass player that have their roots in jazz. I'm not a Rush expert by any means, but some of it reminded me of their complexity. It will be fun to see the finished product when they release some of their songs. I suspect they will crush it!

Cheers for the insight you guys. I have been watching his videos for the last few years, and it is refreshing to listen too 3 commentators points on the style of drumming and not just pretending too be a big fan or in awe of the man.

El Estapario was in a Spanish metal band named Saratoga for a while. He left them to pursue the KZbin channel and other pursuits. On one of his videos from earlier this year he mentions forming a new band and them taking their time to really perfect the music before releasing anything official. Personal favorite videos of his are the One-Handed Drumming collection which is a series of shorts. The updated cover of The Bongo Song (titled "The Impossible Song"), all of his handpan work 'Toxicity' by SOAD and 'Snuff' by Slipknot are my favorites of that series. But really all of his videos are great.

He just published a video yesterday announcing the publishing of their first song within the next 2 weeks here on KZbin.

Puts a smile on my face everytime I see a performance by El Estepario. It makes me wish I would've put way more effort into my playing.

He does think of learning in terms of minutes, hours, or days... but works on his craft in terms of weeks, months, and years. He's said it's taken him something like 87 hours to film one of his 40 second shorts...

I find it kind of useless listening to andy say anything about the video as he spent half of it looking down at his phone. Really? Can't focus on something for 3 minutes, and then we are supposed to listen to his expert opinion. Nah.

He has a notebook he uses to make comments about what he hears, it takes practice to watch videos and then accurately feedback on key ponts, Dave has been doing it for years and Kirk is used to reviewing albums all the time so they do not need to do that, Andy is working on that ellement of his feedback. We are going to be moving into a studio in March where we will all be together for filming and that will certainly help.
