Another great video Carla. This past weekend I went back from WA to Victoria, BC and passed by the bench where we met and chatted on your crossing to the US from Canada. I am so happy the trip to Patagonia is going well. Stay safe and keep the videos coming.

Great memories! It feels like it was last week, I was just starting and full of excitement and fear.. meeting kind people like you definitely let me know I was taking the good decision. Thanks for being part of the journey!

Michel

I've learned to appreciate the lows. They make the highs so much more amazing. My first really low point was in newfoundland. Rough trail uphill all day. Two days since I'd seen another human. Cold and all day rain. Wanted to quit and go home. Then I came around another corner and the landscape opened up into another massive peat bog. The sun came out and i saw caribu for the first time. And it wouldn't have been so amazing if I hadn't been so miserable a moment before. Wasn't even bothered that I set my tent up next to a snow Bank that night.

I completely relate to what you’re saying!!! It feels like bike travel accentuates this (which always happens in life too). Keep on riding!

I appreciate just how hard it is for you right now, losing your grandad (as I also did) when away from home. I would not have been bothered to even make a video ☹ Good going Carla, and best wishes 🙏🚵♂️👍

I felt exactly like that and didn’t film for days (the video was from before his passing). But decided to add the end part to the video because being so far away I felt it was the best and only way I had to honor him ❤️
@tonypaddler Жыл бұрын
@@carlagoessouth yes, it is good that you talked about him in the video, it's good to release emotions. If you didn't do that you'd have difficulty in continuing your journey. Stay strong Carla and all the best 🙏🚴♂️❤👍

Lovely, well Carla looks like you got decent weather until Sibundoy, reminded me of my moto travel, only I got rain all the way and sun in Sibundoy. Sorry you hit another moment of sadness but as you know those moments come and go all the time, the mind can be your biggest challenge sometimes. Cheers Ged, now from Santiago, Chile 🇨🇱

I got exactly the opposite haha no rain until Sibundoy and then.. cats and dogs haha And you’re right, everything (the good and the bad) comes and goes. Keeping this in mind always helps me. All the best on your journey!

I completely agree with how great it feels to be able to fix something yourself, particularly as a solo traveling woman! What did you have to repair when you stopped? I’m really enjoying following your journey!

Right??? It’s frustrating until I solve it and then it becomes the great accomplishment of the day haha The chain got stuck in the rear casette (I think I know why it did that now, I need to align the shifter next time I see a good bike shop)

You're up there with Iohan as one of my favorite cyclist vloggers. Your commentary is so good and so is your filming. Leaving at sunrise tomorrow if I can sleep, the cloud forests of Colombia make the desert of Baja feel that much more out of place...I live in temperate rainforest in a lake town in upstate NY 😅

This has to be the best compliment for someone who does what I do.. thank you! I recently rewatched all of his videos, they’re wonderful. Let me know if you’re also sharing your journey somewhere, I’d love to follow! Otherwise, keep me posted on your journey!

I admire your courage, but as the parent of a 21 year old daughter, I wonder how your parents deal with it. Do they know before hand where you go or only afterwards? BTW, I always carry a couple of pairs of surgical gloves for messing around with the bike. They also work very well as an extra layer to keep your hands dry and warm in wet weather.
@wandering_winds Жыл бұрын
I agree, even I feel worried sometimes… and I've never even met Carla. But then I find peace in the acceptance of the unpredictable nature of our lives. Lets hope her family feels that too. ☺ Good tip with the gloves, I will copy that! 👍
@carlagoessouth Жыл бұрын
I completely get that! I call them daily (not only to assure them I am okay but also because I wouldn’t be able to do what I am doing without their emotional support) In days where I know I will have no connection, I let them know exactly where I am, how long to expect me to be unreachable etc.. Thats’s a great tip! I have dish washing gloves in case of rain (but now that I am in colder weather again, I’ll have to look for good waterproof ones)
@carlagoessouth Жыл бұрын
Thanks for caring!!! They have learned to cope I think.. after years of worrying haha bless them ❤️
