Very good and humble review, Super-B. I'm considering these ELAC as an option now, so thank you for your insight on this. Greetings from Spain!

@Super b In-depth review really appreciate it! These professionals so called reviewers simply confuse you by telling you all the caveats alongside . They can’t simply n honestly encourage you to buy the cheaper speakers even though some of them are way better than their price points like these ones. Could you please some how make us understand how loud do these sound in a room similar to the size of the one you have these placed. I just like to listen at high volumes that will help my decision on these or the floor standers . Appreciations n Best ☮️

Great video on the Elacs I have the smaller version the 5.2's & they also sound superb especially for their price point To better these I would think you'd have to fork out a lot more money Have you tried them on stands , have also read quite a few reviews regarding removing the metal guard on the tweeter to get that more "zing" not so sure about that but I do think it looks better cosmetically as the mesh does look a bit ugly I also think these Elacs do require quite a fair bit of running in to get them at their best Look forward to more of your reviews

Just bought these about a month ago and I agree they're great speakers. They replaced my old Pioneer HPM 100's that I've had many years. The ELAC's are about 3 times smaller than the Pioneers but sound just as good.

That is saying something when they outperform HPMs

I might have missed it but were you doing your listening on vinyl or CD? In the background it looks like you have an Akai 4000 DB or DS??? I used to have one. Now I have two Pioneer RT-909's. Love them.

@@superb60ce Thanks for the speedy reply. I plan on hooking them up to a vintage Marantz Model 1530. Not a powerful receiver but it's a setup I have in the kitchen so wont be driven to hard. Right now I have old Tannoy C-8's hooked up and they sound pretty good for 20 year old speakers, and they have been reformed several years ago. Hoping the Elac's sound much better when they get delivered in a week. They are on sale right now at Bestbuy for $400.00 with free shipping.

@@superb60ce So my Elac's got delivered today and hooked them up. They don't sound near as nice as my 20 year Tannoy C8's. Was a bit disappointed but will let them burn in a bit and see how it goes. So far I'm not impressed. My wife likes them because they are smaller than the C8's. But even she agreed they don't sound as good as the Tannoy's.

I have those Polk speakers. They are the Monitor 4A 179.00 pair retail 1989 6 ohm 92 spl efficient. Good speakers but very bright.

They are a very versatile. They can go well with any receiver or high end amp. And work well with a variety of placements. On stands up against the wall or even just plopping them on the floor and getting a bit of extra bass.

Outstanding review Super-B! I just picked up a pair B6.2's last week and I'm still breaking them in but I love what I'm hearing so far. Like you I live in the real world and speaker placement in my rooms is far from acoustically perfect. I have a pair of JBL Stage A130's on their side (tweeters outboard) in my bedroom and they sound great. And also like you, my hearing is not what it use to be but these Elac's have better than average high end & clarity along with the exceptional bass. In the short time I've had these Elac's they have quickly jumped to the #1 "affordable" bookshelf speaker in my collection followed by the Wharfedale D320's and the JBL Stage A130's. I'd like to see more audio reviews.

Measure the woofer. It is Not 6.5" Elac included the plastic ring surrounding the woofer in the measurement. So it's very deceiving. They are actually 5.25"
