Thanks for this video! I have a major invasion of silver thorn, and have struggled to get rid of it! I’ve declared war this year. I noticed you didn’t mention the chemicals in either of the techniques. Are they the same? Can you help with the specifications for each? I live in Oconee county. Many thanks

Please reach out to your local Clemson Extension Office and the area Forestry and Wildlife Agent can help provide you with more information on control.

This gives me hope. My unpleasant neighbour planted this beside my fence, it is now HUGE. I have espalier fruit trees along my fence that are being engulfed by this plant. I try to cut back as much as I can each year but it grows easily 50cm a year, my neighbour does nothing to control it 😡. I cannot believe someone can be so selfish. I have a store of glycophosphate, not my favourite way of weed control, but in this case, instead of constant pruning, I think I need to take action!

It is a nitrogen fixer so when u cut it back it may well help your fruit trees... silver (thorn) lining.

So are Elaeagnus, so what effective solution do you propose?

The entire planet is made of “chemicals.” I think you mean to say synthetic herbicides are bad for the environment.
