Greenwood Bonsai

Greenwood Bonsai

2 жыл бұрын

In this video Corin shows us some of his personal trees out on display before showing us some Elaeagnus bonsai. Both Elaeagnus have a history with Greenwood Bonsai and have been styled in the current image by Corin.
Its a joy to work with more unusual species and Elaeagnus is one of them, sometimes it's known as silver berry.

Enjoyed this one too. I agree with you that the first tree is now more impressive, less stereotyped and above all, it has a story to tell.

Thank you Corin! Now I know what the cuttings I have from the forest, are...elaeagnus! :) I hadn't been able to identify it yet. Googling the silver underside maybe would have helped, lol

Eleagnus! what a superb subject for bonsai- I shall definitely try it since it grows like topsy. I now have heinous designs upon at least one of mine in the garden... I'll get it out of the ground and see what can be done. But wow that's gonna be tons of labour! Love your vids, Corin.

The Elaeagnus are gorgeous, such power trunks, and I would never have guessed the first one had an "artificial limb"! (Also the pot it's in compliments the deadwood so well) Thanks for sharing Corin 🤗

We just learned how honest you really are, I would never know you had added a piece of wood to that tree, but it certainly worked out well in the end.

I have to give it to you, those trees are amazing to say the least. As for the Elaeagnus I’d be spoilt for choice they’re both fantastic trees and both offer something different. Enjoyed the background history too. If you’re thinking of selling one it’s going to be an extremely difficult decision, the whole video was wonderful from start to end and I have to commend the high quality videography 😜

Very good presentation Corin, particularly relevant for me as I took a very large trunked Elaeagnus out of my garden several years ago and have it in a training pot at the moment, mine is variegated though which I don't think is as nice as the dark green!

Aussie Dave here, both trees are beautiful 🤗. Do you use "lime sulphur " on the dead wood to enhance the white colour 🤔....

I love both of these trees, an how you work with unusual Cheep Nursery Stock, cause not everyone can afford a Shimpaku Juniper. When you say you are adding Wood hardener to that tree, is that the Lime Sulfur, or is there some other wood hardener?? Thanks, SH
