Hey guys, I was wondering.(due to viewing lots of Kenyan youtubers in the usa)...why Is it that some people over there prefer to Mortgage a house instead of buying cash like we do here in Kenya? can some opt to buy in cash over there?

Great question! One can always buy cash if you have the money upfront. But the price of buying a house is usually a lot more than the cash people have on hand and would take a very long time to save up so most peoples option is to take a mortgage.

Homes in the US are not cheap. Plus why would you put cash upfront in a home you might not live in forever. People here move all the time. You buy, live a few years, rent it out to someone else and move on. That’s how you build a portfolio. For majority of Kenyans, you’re stuck in one home until you die.
