I am convinced that certain optics have their price artificially inflated due to Govt. procurement. If they were priced to what the market is willing to pay the ACRO, RCR, etc. would maybe be priced on par with Holosun and I wonder if it would have the same level of cope from diehard fans.

About 20 broke or didn’t work from the get go. So if they both break I should have bought the cheaper one or just stuck with the open emitter. Holosun have good customer service too (replaced my broken one for free). Edit: forgot to say I like the slighter bigger dot on the acro vs the 2 moa holosun. The fix for the Glock Performance trigger is to round over the top of the cruciform where it rides in the channel of the trigger housing. I've had two different GPTs that were notchy on reset and one would fail to reset when it got dirty enough but with rounding the cruciform, I've gone a few thousand rounds without cleaning and the notchyness hasn't come back. It was very eye opening Acro experiences. I’m not sure what to make of it. I currently own a cheap clone mailbox that I bought to kinda try it for myself. In KZbin videos it loses zero when dropped 50/50 but more important fails cold water tests. But no problems with fogging or losing the dot, destroyed glass. It’s almost as if certain designs of mailbox are prone to weakness.

I have run an EPS carry for about a year now with a few thousand rounds through it, worked great except for the fact that the battery compartment screw keeps coming loose. I was at the range one day and all of a sudden my dot was no longer there, I look at the gun and see the battery tray sticking out. Since then I continuously check and retighten the screw after every range trip. Due to this, I went with the P2 for my next red dot set up. All holosuns have the same battery compartment with the screw in the same position, and thats something im sick of dealing with. Albiet, I literally just received my P2 and have 0 rounds through it, so I will have to see how it holds up.

It’s hard not to buy Chinese stuff in this day and age but, it’s good to have an understanding of the companies you’re supporting. Apple is an American company that farms production out to multiple countries with China being one of them being produced by a Taiwanese company. Holosun on the other hand is a Chinese company backed by the Chinese government that funds and arms the PLA. So buying an iPhone and a holosun are two very different things. Regardless, people are going to buy what they want and don’t really care where their money is going.

I think of some of it comes down to that old saying, "Save now, pay later." If people hear you bought something from a "bargain" brand then no one is surprised when you have problems. But if you spend more on a trusted brand known for reliability and get a lemon then that's just bad luck. And these are the brands will have the fanboys out defending them. Buy a cheap Android phone that breaks in less then a year, no one is surprised. But buy an iPhone that dies and Apple fanboys will be quick to say it's a fluke.

Closed emitters are a fad in my opinion. For extreme use cases, sure. But for the hundreds of times people claim open emitters are bad because the emitter can be blocked by water, mud, dirt, dust, sub-atomic particles, etc. I haven't heard any of those people cite one example of when they have experienced an issue with the emitter being blocked or covered at all in real use, let alone where was not able to be fixed easily with a blow of air. If you ever shoot in the rain, you will see the issue with open emitters. The water gets on the emitter glass and it turns your reticle into 10 random dots all over the lens. Off topic but... I hear the "You can't complain about Holosun if you carry a Chinese made phone" argument all the time, but I feel like it's an argument made in poor faith. The big part missing here is that there is no US made equivalent phone option to choose from. Maybe there are some companies trying to make them here but I'm talking about a phone that can go punch to punch with iPhones and Galaxies. Same with something like DJI drones. However, with optics, there are plenty of US/ally nation made equivalent products that perform similarly to their Chinese counterparts (albeit for some extra $$). So making that conscious choice to buy Chinese optics is philosophically different than making the choice to buy a Chinese made phone. Now, is buying domestic worth the extra money when you don't get any extra quality? That is a different question.

While I understand that, the reality is that our consumer behavior has very little to do with the matter. If more of the U.S. firearms market *could* be made in China, it *would* be made in China. The main reason that hasn't happened is specifically due to government regulations on both what products can be imported and also on what domestic law enforcement and military can procure and use. If we want to encourage U.S. manufacturing, and I know this will ruffle some feathers given how heavily right wing the firearms community is, the only solution that will actually have any success is market regulation via teriffs, import bans, etc. The firearms market demonstrates this clearly. Chinesium across the board except where only U.S. and NATO products are accepted. Even in the case of the U.S. made products, think about how many Chinese products go into that production. Tooling, raw materials, basic hygiene and office supplies, software, computers, safety equipment, the list goes on. I don't point this out because I don't support U.S. manufacturing, but rather because this argument misses the forest for the trees. The issue of Chinese optics like Holosun is the same as that of many Chinese products. Realistically, the Chinese can get a legitimately better made product onto the U.S. market than our domestic manufacturers can, and they can do it at a price point where our own manufacturers have to cut corners just to be able to be vaguely competitive. There are other issues with the current state of the market, such as the fact that, say, our U.S. made optics don't necessarily have to actually compete with Holosun, because Holosun isn't really in the running for most major contracts. That means it's just subpar products competing against subpar products. I'm not exactly a market analyst and I'm waffling on about this some, but long story short, I don't necessarily think that "Vote with your wallet" truly applies in our modern market, and the market is primarily moved by bigger players and bigger factors these days than the individual consumer.

The issue with holosun is that it’s a Chinese company that uses the U.S. market to do MR and test products for a military that we may have to face one day. I don’t know why this is so hard to understand 😂 There are plenty of American companies that manufacture in China, but that’s fundamentally different from a Chinese company flooding the market to improve their own products.

I go to a USPSA Match, nobody bats an eye that i'm shooting a xd9 and rocking bladetech while everyone is running some top tier guns and belt rigs. Occasionally you get tips on how to get better and constructive criticism. Go to the range and everyone asking about your shit and talking about their gear but can't hit a target at 10 yards. Well, to each their own to be honest. All the Holosun dots that I've looked through starburst something awful. I'm convinced it has to do with the coating they're using, because any of the other dots I've looked through from Trijicon, Aimpoint, and even Sig don't starburst nearly as bad.

@@rolotomase1440 that’s what I’m saying, you can still “line up the irons and hit it” in the lower third of the window… your not eliminating irons or their point of aim or anything. If the dot is dead your all good. If the battery is dead, Holosun make side tray dots now as well just pop it out and pop in a new one and your back in action and zero is unaffected…
