Elbow - the greatest and most underrated band of the current generation
@andyturpen3 жыл бұрын
Wrong. They are perfectly rated by the current generation.Don’t convince yourself that some other generation is responsible for “rating” them. It’s on you, Millennials!
@krispurcell33753 жыл бұрын
@@andyturpen I dont quite understand your comment to be honest. Plain and simple, these guys absolutely do not get the recognition they deserve from the wider public... hence 'underrated'

Listened it almost 200 times and I hear David Bowie making a point to us. Saw Elbow live in 2006, 2011 and 2013 and it is in the top-10 of my favorite live bands.

This song is almost like comforting somebody about your own downfall... it's really sad but also kind of hopeful in a very somber way
@danpage795 жыл бұрын
A song of compassion and love. Guy Garvey is quite a songwriter.. The lyrical part of this band and the music of the band are so together here. I have never had heard a songwriter use the word malady in a song before. This video is one of the best looking videos I've seen in awhile. A video you watch, listen and think about. So good. That is what great music is about.
@themissingheadsofficial38673 жыл бұрын
Agree 100% to all of this, the band is just way too underrated
@stephaniekerber63252 жыл бұрын
I thought he was singing "Let's make a man of me", not "malady"? Have I been hearing it wrong all these years?

Elbow are always innovating - great single cant wait to hear the new music! Guy’s voice - nothing like it!

But how can a bland unremarkable typical Tuesday be Day of the Dead? F***ing BRILLIANT songwriting. I feel that all the years until I was turned on to Elbow (2015) were wasted in thrall to bands not worth their shoes.

I think this is a song about the end of a relationship (Their empire). "Day of the dead", "Don't let all the light fall from your eyes". The imagery is purely symbolic of things crumbling, falling apart.
