Every song from this album so far has been completely gorgeous and calm. There’s something wonderful about having total certainty that a track will be great before you hear it, and Elbow have never, ever disappointed

I will never be able to put into words how much i adore this band. I fell in love with them the day i heard Jo Wiley introduce Newborn back in 2002/3 it blew me away. I love loads of bands for different reasons but Elbow will always be my No1. Mr Garvey i salute you ❤

Wonderful, beautiful, gentle. Brings echoes of Scattered Black and Whites, and no detriment for that

So beautiful! Love the creativity of the backing singers and the double bass. Elbow have amazed me with every song they've written since I first heard them at Virgin Megastore on London's Oxford Street to promote the release of Asleep in the Back. I feel as though I've grown up with them.

New Elbow music is always a pleasure. Been a fan for 20 years, I'm going through some big changes in life right now and these new tracks will frame this for me forever...especially the piano at 2:59! Mr Potter...you are a genius
@vladdrak10002 жыл бұрын
Insanely beautiful song. Love this album.
@AmenBreak82 жыл бұрын
Everything about this song is sublime. But what makes Elbow special, above other excellent musicians, is the uniqueness of some of their instrument / vocal melodies that sit behind Guy's voice. The backing vocals in this (heavenly). The sullen lone trumpet and crack of the wood blocks on My Sad Captains. The rolling percussion and minimalist piano on Gentle Storm. It's so unique, and makes them stand out compared to other mainstream bands who struggle to deviate from having everything being heard at the same time. A sweeping statement, I know... And Guy's vocals are alright too, I guess.

I think Mark Hollis would be enjoying Elbow's musical progression.

Beautiful. Guy is the modern day Beethoven. Lines like walking on walls. An overcoat colder. Evokes memories and cultural perculuraties of Northern Britain. Thank you.
@Weatherface3 жыл бұрын
Such a subtle arrangement. Craig Potter you are quite a musician. The chord shifts you pull are familiar but always with something else there that’s uniquely you. The piano phrasing in the section at 2:59, my God. I left northern Britain a long time ago now but this pulls me right back in the best way.
@neilworroll92782 жыл бұрын
Couldn’t agree with you more. Those lyrics and Garveys dulcet tones manage to reconnect me to my northern roots like nothing else ever could.💕🇦🇺

Whether it's Guy Garvey's Sunday show, Finest Hour on BBC 6 Music (of which I've saved dozens of hours on my set-top box), or Elbow's albums, I always have somewhere to turn if I'm stressed, have a migraine or feel unwell in other ways or have been having trouble sleeping. I know that sounds like an insult, but is an acknowledgement of how deeply special they are to me. I do listen when I'm more alert and engaged as well and enjoy finding a whole new aspect and richness to the experience; lyrics like rich paintings and Guy Garvey's gift for story-telling and quiet humour.

Another beautiful classic by a band that is so adept at listening to hearts and minds before writing and performing songs that touch hearts. I became a fan just about 20 years ago and there are so many “go to” songs for feeling connection and grace. Add Flying Dream 1 to the list. Thank you, Elbow.

as each of these songs have been released, I listened and thought "ok, chill decent tunes so far" but nothing really sparked anything. Two nights ago, I played these three new songs on repeat to be more familiar with them. I am now addicted. These songs are brilliant! Subtle instrumentation here, a beautiful melody there, background wind instruments and background hums swell and swell and give me goosebumps now. Loving this new album so far!! I love all their work, but this is sublime!

I found Elbow about 6mos ago when something from little fictions came through my playlist. I listened to trust the sun about a hundred times in a row and really loved that whole album. This was right before audio vertigo came out so i have also been enjoying that one...baloo baloo baloo! I work my way slowly through a catalog so this has been the next one on my list. Im struck by how sophisticated it is...very jazzy and such pristine vocals. Its easy on the ears but the chord progressions are just bonkers. And also blown away how different each album is. This lead vocalist is just perfect. I hear a little scouse in there that reminds of Paul McCartney. 😊
