// ABOUT THE CONCERT
The magnificent Philharmonia Orchestra from London takes its audience to Scandinavia in this concert. It will be brought there by the Swedish-Norwegian violinist Johan Dalene - one of the top up-and-coming stars of the violin. Unfortunately, Esa-Pekka Salonen, who was originally scheduled to conduct the concert, is unable to do so due to illness. He will be replaced by the young American star conductor Ryan Bancroft, who recently made his debut at the Elbphilharmonie. Instead of the Leonore Overture No. 2, the concert will open with No. 3. Dalene is particularly committed to the music of northern European composers such as Carl Nielsen. Nielsen is part of the standard repertoire in his home country and in English-speaking countries, but is still played too little in this country. His violin concerto still inspires with its bold verve as it did at its premiere in 1912.

Sibelius is one of my favourite composers, in fact there is no other that I like more. Ryan Bancroft has proved once again to be among the very best of the new generation conductors. Far superior (from what I’ve heard so far) to some other over hyped new comers, I think we know who I am referring to. The orchestra played brilliantly. Thanks for the upload.

I'm sorry, but someone really messed up on the acoustics of that hall. The orchestra sounds distant and it's especially hard to hear the woodwinds at times.

Well, in spite of the enormous cost, it’s no Concertgebouw, Amsterdam or Symphony Hall, Boston. Interestingly both from the 19tn c.

@@paullewis2413 I have some friends in a major orchestra that performed there. They were shocked because a huge amount of money went into the overall design and acoustical design. Since so much was invested, it would be wise to invest several million more to fix the issues. It should really sound incredible for the price.

@@paullewis2413 The Musikverein's acoustics sounded great to my ears when I was there. A few other halls as well, like Troy Music Hall.
