Some twist rate specs would be nice...curious if there are gonna be bullet seating issues with that big hollow point section?

It would be nice if you were doing a video on comparing and contrasting two bullets that maybe you actually showed the two bullets and went over the specific differences and similarities relative to performance?? Hornady has a LOT of graphics that could be used. Just a thought

Unfortunately, my Tikka 223 Heavy barrel (1:8) does not like these. I've tried on 3 separate occasions with varying powder and they just would not come close to grouping. This barrel shoots 52gr ELD-M and Berger 52gr flat bases quite well. My match load uses 73gr ELD-M and this grouped very well on the same days I shot the ELD-VT. I like the VT concept, so I'm going to test the 6.5 (Creedmoor) and the 30 (30/06).

Have I made a mistake getting a factory Howa Mini 6arc? The magazine is short and I doubt they’ll fit. Moreover, I probably can’t hand load longer projectiles further out the neck and fit in the magazine. I’m guessing I can hand feed them but. I wonder if the Ruger American Gen2 can magazine feed longer hand loads.

This could be my new seal hunting bullet, would be great to have the higher BC out in the archipelago. Recommended twist rates is still missing on the website, but I hope 1:8 will suffice for .264? Do you have a recommended max velocity? 6.5-300 Wby can send it quite fast....

If you have an 8 twist, I think you may be able to use it. As long as this thing isn't much longer than the 73gr ELD, it will stabilize in the 8 twist.

I’m going to assume, I’ll reiterate the assume part, as long as it’s the 6mm creedmoor and not an actually .243 it will work since it’s made for these long low drag modern bullets. A 243 won’t have the right head spacing if I’m thinking corretly
@leonardogarcia2506

@leonardogarcia2506
@leonardogarcia2506 6 ай бұрын
@@predatorhuntingobsession5104 I haven’t seen the 80 grain 6mm bullets, but most 243’s have a generous throat. Not weatherby throat, but still pretty long for the standard length or coal of a factory round. Besides if you’re using a max charge of varget or RL-15, you’re at 80% case fill, leaving you plenty of room for seating way down into the case.

I just received my first box of Hornady 30 cal, 174 gr. ELD-VT bullets. On the box it states that the twist rate is 1-12". The bullet is 1.4215" long! I haven't found any reloading data on this bullet yet. Can anyone direct me to some data on reloading this bullet. Thanks
@robertpagel8951
@robertpagel8951 9 ай бұрын
Use the hornady manual for the other 308 in that weight class. That's where it will be next time they update the reloading manual. Start in the middle of max charge for each compatible powder and you'll be just fine. Thinking about trying out a box for tikka chassis rifle and 11twist bartlein barrel
@leonardogarcia2506
@leonardogarcia2506 6 ай бұрын
Reloading for this bullet would be no different than hornady’s load data for the bullet in its weight class. I’d use somewhere between 38-42 grains of varget. Start at 38 grains and find your seating depth that the bullet likes, then Just shoot a ladder from 38 grains to 42 grains in .5 grain increments. If you’re a hand loader, I’m sure you know what to do next.

Sorry I don't buy the idea that you can move most of the weight to the rear & maintain accuracy! Some of the weight, sure it's been done for yrs. I see twist issues, long range issues. It will be great on varmints sure. But we already have the V - max. which might be the best varmint getter since the HP.
