The gravity spells look amazing, and the highest investment is 36 int. They’ve purposefully crafted spells for hybrid classes this time around and it’s got me excited. You can conceivably have a nice arsenal with 20-25 int investment and maybe around 150-200 fp
@Christian-px2jw2 жыл бұрын
You'd do pretty pitiful damage though. With the ash of war system it's honestly better to invest in the bare minimum in physical stats to wield your weapon one handed and then pump straight intelligence after changing its scaling. The only reason to hybrid class would be for the spells that require both intelligence and faith.

interesting little tidbit, every spell flashes a seal when casted that hints at their origin, with only a few exceptions. the most consistent one is the carian family seal on all academy spells and volcano manor seal on all of theirs. sellia spells all flash the seal for the town of sellia, but that seal is also shared by crystalian spells and nightmaiden's mist, which came from nokron, hinting at a relation between the three and somewhat explains why a town of sorcery exists so far from the academy. undead spells flash the cursemark of death, so uh...no shit. the most mysterious one is graivty spell seals, which i've never seen before. they originate from a different faction but radahn learned them in sellia. the sealless spells are spells that are of unconventional origin or independent practitioners. primal sorceries, which come from the primal current. snow crone spells since the crone is independent. and briar spells, which are incantations so fuck those. the odd duck out is lucidity, which is undeniably carian but has no seal.

The gravity spells come from the Alabaster and Onyx Lords, kind of like aliens or something. They have stone skin, that's who Radahn learned the gravity magic from. The seal is unique, because it's a significantly more complex arcane matrix, rather than being a more stylized one used by spells from other places.

One that caught me as weird is the Tibia Mariner's Summons don't have the cursemark of death shown when cast. Either an oversight or meant to imply that the mariners are somehow seperate? @@komarkko1 for pvp magic is still in a weird spot. The simple low cost spells are still better in nearly all use cases. My personal top 10: 10) *Glintstone Shard* The Classic. Your first pew pew, and it stay reliable for the whole game. A keeper. 9) *Glintstone icecrag* It's nice. The range is a bit short but the frost damage makes up for it 8) *Rain of Stars* Used against big, slow ennemies will eat both their hp and poise, provided you attack as well. Casting it in a corridor, then hiding behind it with your shield up is also an option. Worth the 2 slots it takes. 7) *Magic Glintblade* My go to spell right now. The delay is a bit off setting at first, but it allows a lot of things. Cast as many of them as you need while you're undetected, then go hiding. Let them suffer alone. Or go melee while they're being pummeled to death. 6) *Haima cannon* Do you ever feel impotant? Do you ever want to go big shooty boom boom magic? Do you hate that guy over there or just want to probe a room for baddies? (or unfortunate npc?) Well boi do i have the spell for you. Decent range, big damage, with the added bonus of dropping things off the edges. No brainer. 5) *Adula's Moonblade* The Carian version hits once per swing. Adula hits twice, is more powerful, and inflicts frost. Ideal for pack sweeping, or things too big on their legs for your sword (And no lock points on the legs LOOKING AT YOU ELDER DRAGONS!) 4) *Comet Azur* In the storm beyond time exists a Dragon. A Lord among his peers. I issued challenge. The Dragonlord laughed. The Dragonlord is no more. 3) *Ambush Shard* The mob has a shield? Is hiding behind a wall? Is below a ledge? That spell, fellas is your middle finger to them. Tip: The lock disables if an ennemy is out of sight for a few seconds, but nothing stops you from moving the camera and locking them again. It's clanky, but does the job 2) *Glintstone arc* I don't use it anymore, but up to mid game, it does wonders for clearing packs while staggering them. It's low cost is also a plus 1) *Loretta's Greatbow* Now this, is the shit. If you have this you can never get ganked as long as you have a clear view. The range is bonkers, the damage output is great, and can one shot almost any mob you encounter. A must have.

Imagine if they used Nioh’s mappable skill system alongside Elden Ring’s magic. So for example, Swift Glintstone Shard could map to your quick attack and Glintstone Shard to your strong. You can then map 4 spells to your skills. Or if you had a Carian staff and the light attack would be Carian Slicer and the strong attack would be Carian Greatsword or Carian Piercer. So many fun possibilities. Hopefully someone in the future makes a game like this.

You guys saw the Carian Retaliation, right? You know what's best part? It also exists as Ash of War! You can slap it on any small or med shield and have a general fuck you tool to mages. It is found in Three Sisters area, behind Caria Manor (you have to pass through Manor first and defeat ghostly rider boss).

The Gravity Magic: Earth Sling I find does more Damage for the Cost of 18 fp vs Glintstone Pebble needing 21 mana and 3 shots to do the similar dmg. Even more so if you find the Meteor Staff(Has S int Scaling, 150+ Sorcery scaling, and it enhances Gravity Magic. 18 int to use the staff) it and the Earth Sling spell can be found at the Start of the game. If you want to be an all powerful wizard. I found it the very unfortunate way by exploring the starting area of the game and being sent at a low level to what amounts to Hell for a lower lvl player by opening a chest with a trap. But as a caster it was worth it! even though it was hard I gained a lot of power from it.
@dragonkingzul2 жыл бұрын
@Star-Lord ET You can break guard and knock down people with Earth Sling, it does burn some FP in doing so. But I typically switch to the Delayed Glintstone blade spell and just roll and move so they get shot in the back by the blades when they launch best way I've found to get around guarded foes with good shields vs magic.
@griffithdidnothingwrong71172 жыл бұрын
@@dragonkingzul my glintstone pebble cost less fp, plus does more damage for the cost
@arkainjalex122 жыл бұрын
@Star-Lord ET I still have a long way to go but my current build uses Great Glintstone Shard which is a bigger, stronger version of pebble that staggers a bit, and Swift Glintstone Shard which is only slightly weaker but attacks much quicker and can be used on horseback without stopping so you can kite any enemies or bosses in the world easily until death. There's also an interesting spell called "Ambush Shard" that causes a projectile to materialize behind an enemy and blast them, so it circumvents shields. I haven't found a ton of great spells yet, but those are the ones I'm rocking alongside Carian Greatsword.

I just beat the game as a pure spellcaster. Comet Azur (kamehameha) is absolutely insane for slower moving, larger targets, I legit brought some bosses down before I even saw their mechanics. Carian Slicer is great for melee types along with Adula's Moonblade if you need greater coverage. Pebble is solid but Comet/Cometshard can do massive damage if you have the time to cast them. Lastly, Loretta's Greatbow is fantastic when you are mounted or if targets are dodging your pebbles/comet while you still need to be at range. Mages can absolutely stomp but the more aggressive targets will require some patience. Summons help greatly here.

@@spacewizardpip1111 you definitely want to hunt down golden seeds and sacred tears as much as you can, boost your flasks and get some FP recovery type talismans (get your 3 talisman slots asap, there is a 4th way later too). You want a heavy focus of mana flasks, I usually only kept around 2 life flasks on me until I had around 7 or 8 mana and then I had 4 life flasks. You should get hit less being ranged. The exception being when in the mage area. Using carian slicer is good and using ashes to scale a weapon with int (like the +8 rapier you'll end up getting for free) will allow you some flexibility if you want to melee a bit. I stayed light roll the whole time though so I didn't have anything but staff and shield.
