​@@boardsandstuff5008 Those HP dials were a bit awkward in Dark Souls: The Board Game. Sometimes they were a bit tight, other times a bit loose, and there was no trying to redo it once the peg was in. I'm very supportive of that second suggestion though, a good tracker with a cube would be great.

It seems like a game that will shine solo. As each player does it’s own thing but working towards a common goal but really one player will drive the quest.

Am I the only one that was kind of sad to see there wasn’t boards to lay out? I figured there would be and then change the shape and be more creative with them kind of similar to gloomhaven. I feel like the quest book with the miniatures looks cheap and not as immersive. But that’s the only criticism I have. It still looks fun to play and I’m glad they changed the formula compared to dark souls board game.

@Xfireball thanks for this feedback. I'm new to Kickstarter and think some of this games are way over priced. But based on your experience what do you think is a good substitute for this type type game that is worth it? I was thinking skyrim but the action game play seems boring. I keep on hearing good reviews on zomhicide so maybe the marvel zombicide might might good, but it's so expensive.

@Xfireball the Dark Souls card game is pretty solid, if a little easy. it offers enough interesting gameplay and tactics, without bogging things down too much by drawing out combats significantly. and from what I can tell, this game takes more from that than from the DS board game, so is likely to be good.

@@unknowncompany948 Soulsborne has been the name for the style of game Fromsoft makes for years. Elden Ring is a Soulsborne game, despite not having either word in the name. and just like how someone can play soulsbornes without playing bloodborne, a company can make soulsborne games without making all of them/being the only one to make them, it's a genre name, not a specific game. Please do a little research into the used terminology before you try correcting someone.

Feels like something is missing. Is gear all the character progression there is? Will there be more interesting quests to complete? I know it's just the tutorial, but just seems like it's busywork on a semi-random map until the boss fight. Will wait for more videos incase there is more to the gameplay-loop.

Reading from the Kickstarter page, you can also level up each of the stats with souls like in the video game, and this adds cards to your deck or focuses your combat potential towards a certain archetype.

I'll be the sceptic here - the game overall looks good, quality components, but to me it seemed that there are couple issues with it. Overall, it feels like you really need someone with very good in-depth knowledge of all the random stuff, from tokens to rules nuances. Effectively, a good gamemaster. Secondly, somehow I didn't felt that much of an excitement watching it being played. It felt like watching someone read a science book in the late evening. Thirdly, and this kinda is the final straw - the price. The 'all inclusive' option is nearly 400 eur. That is a mighty amount for a table game! Of course, you could get base game only, but one of the main thrills of kickstarter projects is getting all the extras and/or better quality stuff. I really hope they'll keep their promise on "no extra taxes", but I've seen this promise being broken a few times before, so we'll see about that. Again, to each it's own, but the price/enjoyment ratio seems to be on the lower end for this one.

I got to asking myself how true to the spirit of the lore/atmosphere the board game is. I thought if I close my eyes and just listen to them play, while disregarding other direct Elden Ring reference I might hear, would I come out of the experience and say "Hey the way they described combat I could imagine a souls game/Elden Ring" or "Hey that sounds like exploring an open world like in Elden Ring".

Hey Sherwin, what's the reason for putting a spirit spring token on the board? I didn't see it get removed or exhausted when it was used. Would there be potentially something else that could remove the token and 'disable' the use of the spirit spring?

Hey Skyler - I probably won't explain this as well as Sherwin would, but I'll give it a go! It's a rules thing, basically. The rules state that locations on the board need to have a token in order for players to interact with them, because tokens are sometimes removed during play. Not having tokens for Spirit Springs would create a confusing rule exception where everything *except* Spirit Springs need a token, so it's more straightforward to just include them in the game. Hope that makes sense, but Sherwin is answering Kickstarter comments right now if you have any more questions.

Need help guys. I’ve never played anything like this style of board game before. I’ve play games from blood rage, rising sun, scythe, north guard uncharted lands, etc. so this is similar as far as your worker placement I’m assuming but over all its very different. Is this style of board game easy to learn. It’s looks pretty complex but I learn board games pretty quick on board games . I just want options if people think from my board game back ground if it’s a game that would slightly come natural to learn and olay

It's just a dungeoncrawler. Look it up. I don't know what the difference to Gloomhaven, Oathsworn, Descnet etc. etc. is.

This is what you would refer to a heavy dungeon crawler/ rpg hybrid. Up there in complexity with gloom heaven and wild ascent. This is rules heavy so it has a bit of a learning curve for sure. But the fact you can play solo helps one person get familiar with the rules and nuisances and then can help the group learn.

For starters I’m not backing for reasons I won’t bother to mention. Just here for curiosity but straight up, what is with these small hex tiles? Reminds me of JiME only they had more hex’s combined into one tile but overall they were too small as well. To add after watching, I don’t see anything groundbreaking here. I can easily just buy another exploration style game for a lot cheaper than this. There’s plenty out there.

@@rickantiveros that’s cool. If you wanna know I’ll say it here. 1. Too expensive. It’s not even the whole game. By the time your finished it’ll be $1000+. 2. Bardsung from the company turned out to be one big grind fest and repetitive. I still haven’t finished the campaign but I’ll be house ruling it to cut down the long grind. 3. Dark Souls the board game from this company was horrible. They’ve just released 2nd Ed. 4. Im over all these big box games with 100’s of minis that I’ll never get time to paint. I’ve already got a 2+yr pile of shame from other board games and historical minis. If you want it, go for it. That’s just my position on this game. There are cheaper games like this out there.

Will there be more colour added like in the video game? The video game is full of bright, beautiful, colourful vistas and characters throughout. It would be a shame to miss out on that in favour of a dark theme.

Colorful? These are games with dull colors, I think that's enough, we're tired of all these flashy games, which burst with colors for not much, if you want landscapes, play a video game. I find that the color palette of elden ring is well mastered and adapted. To put lots of colors is to address young adults or children.

@@leventduski2975 that’s really debatable. Looking at the hex tiles closer on the kickstarter page does show a old wash out map design. Which does reflect the digital games world map quiet nicely, but that’s where we run into the issue of the actual in game world not being reflected. There’s A LOT of gold and black on cards. Elden ring colors should be more represented. If the colors of elden ring are not represented in the hex tiles (which again is fine) then they should be represented somewhere else. The cards or the battle maps most likely. Card would be nice to break up all that black and gold I mentioned before, but the battle maps make more sense. Also, what’s the with last sentence? Unless I’m reading it wrong, it feels like you want to do a weird gate keep for a board game. Color vibrance does not mean age range. There’s plenty of “adult” board games with color. Betrayal at house, Everdell, Godsforge, and I’m sure I can pick out at least 5+ more from my d&d room. The more people that can experience a wonderful game the better. I love seeing people get introduced to new games at my local shop.

At the beginning of your comment you say that the colors of the ring of elden must be represented, I do not see or they are not? You talk about faded tiles, it's exactly the same as in the video game and I think it's very cool. What would you have put instead? A verdant field, then all of a sudden the caelid-stained lands? It has no visual relation. Then for black and gold, what would you have worn? Green and blue? It's ridiculous.

Listen, I'm a game designer, I work in it, and you don't need numbers to know that very colorful games are often used to appeal to children. Elden ring is a very mature game that too is well known, the difference between you and me is that you need laboratory statistics to see a very simple fact when you are immersed in the game world at least. Are board games made for children? Sort of, but give elden ring to kids we'll talk about it, you're stupid. No, I'm just trying to say that putting more color in elden ring will drown out some information, and even more of the landscapes it talks about on the tiles, it doesn't make sense to put landscapes in this game. The game is visually very beautiful, it looks interesting to play, the position system reminds me a bit of dark souls card game. There are lots of cool things, I hope that in the future, you will offer Liurnia lakeside, Caelid, siofra and other universes... Now we all ask ourselves the question, is that in terms of balance, character development, "level design" the game will hold up (we all think of a dark souls the board game). For the moment, the immense disappointment I have is to see that there is no French version. If this is the case, I hope that the titles of cards, objects etc will be translated, because for dark souls we had the bad surprise of having translated everything except the titles of cards, equipment etc which remained in English.
