Short answer, horses were tamed at the end of the stone age, still in the "Cave Man" era, but well after the "Unga Bunga" era. For reference, the oldest intact bow found to date was made before the first horses were domesticated.

Horses found around "muh cavemen" era would be the size of big dogs or deers. The 30.000+ years of selective breeding is why they are so prone to being sick and have 50% of their diet consist of various drugs.

Fun fact, natives americans didn't have horses at all for centuries. The conquistadors introduced the horses in Mexico, and then the horses would go to North America. Before that they used dogs and sledges as their main method of transport and travel.

this is correct...but as I was between getting the clawmark seal and the gravelstone seal I said something like "I could use the clawmark seal. I have the stats, but the gravelstone seal is literally just a rock", it fit better thematically imo haha

@@toneprime3622 Then bluntly your Defense must be horrible (which in the context of this run they would be but nothing you said implied that you were doing a run like this). Then again, I go with literally anything possible to make my characters harder to kill. You don't know what power feels like before you take a full Waterfowl Dance without blocking or dodging and barely a quarter of your HP is eaten up. Seriously pure tanking oriented builds can be absolutely hilarious especially if you go all in on it.

3:26 That actully does exist! The Mesoamerican macuahuitl! Basically a wooden "club" with obsidion shards set into it as blades. Through a process called knapping you can break obsidion into shards with edges sharper than modern high quality razer blades. But the brittleness that lets you knap obsidion greatly limits how big you can make a blade from it. So the Mesoamericans just stuck the obsidion shards into a club and replaced the pieces as they fell out. Simple, but brutally effective. And thats my weird knowledge tidbit for today :3

At 16:30, I think the reason that "that specific rock" did more damage than others is that it was a counter hit, she just started waterfowl so it would make sense that hitting her would count as a counter hit :)

Malenia gets damage resistance during Scarlet Aeonia, and counter hits only apply to pierce damage. That was the normal damage

@@Ouch193 When she's recovering from the scarlet aeonia, she takes reduced damage. So while using the rock during that recovery, he dealt 165 instead of the normal 237. (ie he dealt reduced damage the first time and the normal damage the second time)

I did a Neanderthal run. Tried to keep it as accurate as I could to paleo archaeological findings. He cannot use metal, shields, bows, or anything of complex design, nor can he use oversized logs as weapons. He is heavily invested in core stats and Intelligence. He always strives for Ranni’s ending as early shamanism implies our ancestors worshipped the stars Armor: He wears the Raiment set and hide bracers. Weapons: Spiked club, Stone club, Wooden club, Celebrants Sickle, Celebrants Cleaver, Crystal knife, Jawbone Axe, and the Clayman’s Harpoon (not metal it’s a sharpened meteorite) Ashes of War: Parry, Spectral Spear Throw, Giant Hunt, All roar variations, Wild Swings, and any basic thrusting AoW. Spells/incantations: Stone of Gurranq, Fire Cleanse Me, Flame Grant Me Strength. He cannot ride Torrent. Horses were prey items for early humans. “Cavemen” or Neanderthals died out roughly 30,000-40,000 years ago. Evidence of horse riding doesn’t start until about 5k years ago and that’s with sapiens, not Neanderthals.

The first 3 days I played with him he ended up farming enemies near Gurranq and has over 120 successful coop session with players in Limgrave and Liurnia. He’s good fun. I am planning on making another one and pushing him to near end game without leveling his equipment beyond 4 to keep helping people. He seemed to make people laugh and got good feedback in messages.

Im not an anthropologist but as far as cavemen and horses go: The first record of tamed horses occurs in 5,000 BC by the botai culture of modern day northern kazakhstan. The Botai were most likely memebers of the indo european language group, which later migrated into europe and south asia, creating the modern languages and people of Europe, India, Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Around the time of the fall of Rome, however, the steppe indo europeans were wiped out and/or assimilated into turkic (central asians distantly related to the mongols and ancestors of modern central asia) related societies, which is why theres a gap between Europe and the India/Iran region.

I did this exact build and named the character Giga Neanderthal when Elden ring was 3 months into its life span the lack of defenses is okay because you get to deal so much damage and move freely with light load at all times and pvp was even more fun fighting 1v1 or invasion style as a cave man and something is so cathartic beating Demi gods to death with a club

Hey Doom, MA in Archaeology here. Horses were domesticated around 6000 BC which was stone age in certain parts of the world but in the area where they were domesticated, it was already bronze age. so run invalid. Wolves were domesticated 40.000 years ago though so you could totally have used wolf summons! and talismans, so long as they're not made from metal, were totally valid (bull goat talisman for the light roll...) but flasks? no sorry, run invalid... Loved the video man keep it up :)

My man the seal Gurranq gives you scales off strength. It is legitimately one of the best seals in the game for strength faith hybrids or strength mains that wanna be able to cast a couple of buffs or heals on the side because it’s incantation scaling goes up with strength. You even got it because it’s the first thing he gives you, the Clawmark Seal and the Beast Eye come together with the first deathroot you hand in. Also it gives a 10% power boost to Bestial Incantations, the only incantations you used. Good god man I know you wanted to keep the caveman vibe but the seal you used on the basis of it being a rock is a dragon scale, part of it still has colour either from corpse wax repair work or because it’s just still got the scale’s colour. Meanwhile the Clawmark Seal is literally a rock with a clawmark running through it which is pure caveman if you ignore the little embellishment around the rim where someone touched it up a bit.

I got the Rykard boss on my second try if I recall correctly... much to my surprise. I did similar here, I had a character with really high Vigor too and I did a lot of melee damage so instinctively just went right in. I don't think the game expects someone to be so insane as to stand in larva and indeed he just took hits while I took very little damage. Easiest unintended cheese fight ever

Yeah, as long as you have the health to withstand him occasionally spinning in place (and the multitude of explosions in phase 2) he's weirdly easy to do melee lol
