An easy fix for viewing OBS as a preview without having to switch your main display monitor, is put the game in windowed mode and drag it off, or nearly off the screen. All you have to do is be sure you're clicked into the window when you're playing. Not sure how relevant this will be, as you tend not to do the same thing often, but might help future attempts where you preview through OBS.
