Agreed, but what's funny is how true it is. Feel good about your accomplishments, it will carry over to a better life. Who cares if people think its lame you're proud of being good at WoW or whatever, the reality is most people who would make fun of you haven't even accomplished anything better in their life. Getting an ego over it, thats another story, acting like a big deal because you are good at a game, its pretty cringe. So its a fine line, but never let someone make you feel like being top rank in a game you play isn't an accomplishment, it's not something someone can just do without putting in the work, so its not something anyone can do, be proud of it.

Love the alligator metaphor. The real gold there is that the alligator set himself up for success. He did not gdy any immediate gratification but he kept at it, knowing it was a prime spot to achieve his goal. The hardest thing about being successful is that, even if you do the right things every day, you may not reap any rewards or see any progress. Many quit right before a breakthrough moment. I think its easy to romanticize the notion of being a self-made millionaire or an overnight success, but the truth is that everyone that successful has help, an arduous road that got them there, and/or disciplines/habits that helped them pushed through the challenges and monotony. Sadly, we often hear of the moment of success and not all the key stuff that took place before that.

13:25 For one hundred years I stood my watch amidst the sombre shadows of the Sanctum Imperialis. I was still as a statue, but always ready, always attuned to dangers unseen. Days, months, years passed by in a frenzied blur beyond those walls, yet within, little moved and nothing changed. For one hundred years I did naught but wait, yet had any threat appeared, I would have struck it down in a heartbeat. For one hundred years I stood my watch, and as it ends I can tell you this - patience is a weapon. - Tybaris Constor

To be fair, Elden Ring is a great mirror for my personality. I realized through my playthrough that I had behaviors while fighting difficult bosses which matches perfectly how I respond to stress in real life (shocking I know). I was at first fighting bosses from afar and would panic roll each time I got hit. I love the deep look in my mind I got from playing this game. I would eventually fall in love with the dance with the enemy aspect of the game. Best game of 2022 for me.

When i finished Ornstein and Smough in dark souls was the moment i knew that i already accepted the death of my dad, Dark Souls and Hollow Knight reminds me that perseverance to be better during the dark moments can start by challenging ones self one small step at a time. Elden Ring taught me I can sleep for 4-5 hours a day.
@Jet-ij9zc
@Jet-ij9zc Жыл бұрын
Speaking as someone who used to sleep about 4-5 hours for a few years and had a friend who barely slept 3 due to a medical condition. You should really, really try to get 7+ hours. It might seem fine now but it'll catch up to you eventually and when it does you'll do far less in the 19~20 hours you're awake then the 16~17 hours you'd be awake if you slept properly. Not to mention the mental pain (idk what word would accurately describe it. But basically, take the longest amount of time you've been awake (assuming you've stayed awake for more then a full day before). Remember how you felt by the end of it? At some point, that's how you'll feel just waking up, and it'll get worse throughout the day.) Tldr: For your own sake, sleep properly

14:40 - On my first playthrough of Elden Ring I got over-leveled very quickly, because the exploration was so satisfying. But as a result of that I didn't struggle, I defeated a lot of bosses even when I was making a ton of mistakes and I didn't get the satisfying feeling after beating the boss. So I made a new toon and throttle my upgrades/leveling up unless I was really struggling. Much better that way.

Fighting Mohg relatively early in my first playthrough, around level 35-40, taught me a whole lot about the game. This was my first real dive into any of the souls games, I played ds3 briefly but didn't own it at the time, so this was all so new to me. Dozens and dozens of attempts, a whole lot of frustration... and stubbornness later, I definitely came out a better gamer. Don't think it ever came to mind to apply those principals to life though, that's an interesting take.

On the topic of finishing Elden Ring (or any from software) and wishing that you could play like it was your first play-through. Recently I went on about and play DS3 once again, in a different build and actually finish it solo (maybe some npcs for their respective quests) and GOD if it was fun... I noticed that I was way more mature in my game choices, when to move, when to attack, when to defend and so on so forth!.. I loved the experience, I think I only struggled against Midir cuz, apparently, I was really underleveled (accidently started second dlc before the first kek) Fast forward, I am now playing elden ring from 0, new build and taking my time... It has been a few months since I stopped playing ER (due to an old bug that kept me disconnecting as I spawned). I was so new to the game that I had forgotten how to dual wield a weapon (LOL) I've been playing for a good while, couple of hours, I am on my way to kill Renalla after clearing 'the whole' limgrave and I am loving every single minute of this! I am not rushing, exploring everything again and taking new approaches to the game! This game is a blast, it's amazing! I love it so goddam much ♥ Like Sekiro, somehow, Elden Ring never feels old for me. Which is ironic cuz by the mid-end of my first playthrough, I had the same mindset "i wont find anything that strikes me fancy after this...", the anxiety and sadness... they were all that, overthinking BS cuz this game is gorgeous. Are you done with DEX? Go Strength! Done with that? Go Faith, go Magic, go Arcane, go Bow and arrow... man, everything works in this game. There are builds for everything, spells, ashes of war or even weapon choices! This game definitely deserved game of the year, and in as my hot take the best game that we got in many years. Arguably last 10 to 20 years even

in Sekiro i got a few mini bosses that had no restricted arena by simply sneaking up on them, backstabbing them and running away... then coming back and backstabbing them again. the funny thing is these games is that the first time, no matter how many times you do a fight and how well you think you know it, you will still struggle but the second time around, even if they pull a move you never seen before, you can kill them quite easily.

I love dark souls as a game but the amount of unfair deaths (falling off edges duo to narrow passages, being surrounded by many enemies in small areas...etc) is really overwhelming and it's kind of ruining the fun part about souls games because what I like most about fromsoftware games is the bosses but dark souls 1 focuses on the areas difficulty and enemies way more than the bosses

Whenever I finally kill a boss in a souls-like game after 5-10 attempts, I do not get the feeling of satisfaction of achieving something, I just think about all the time I wasted on failed attempts

Idk. I did nothing for a few years due to an illness, and eventually a nice job came from a random encounter, and made it a very prideful job for years. So, it COULD happen, but it can be a long while until that moment even comes along.

I just bought DS1 remastered cause I never played the series yet, one thing these games have taught me is patience cause every fromsoft game I play and I get my ass whooped I start getting annoyed but them I'm like"oh shit this is a souls game, this is gonna take some time and patience so mightest well explore or practice fighting along the way"

On my fourth playthru I finally decided to buy all the notes from all the merchants and found out how you can make the land squirts explode and it was like the game was fresh again. Moral of the story? Information is king.

Went from moving furniture too a software engineer. I actually went the route of doing something I wasn’t good at and literally didn’t stop till everything starting making sense, after months of drowning my brain with podcasts KZbin videos and Udemy shit just started to click like a puzzle. Also hands on really helps.

I had to cheat the draconic tree sentinel by the Lindell gate. I stood by his ass and poisoned him for like 10 minutes... I also did it on the boss in the rot swamp.... The boss in the castle with the nights who disappear... I shot him through an arrow slit for like an hour... I'm not proud of it, but I don't want to bash my head against something for days on end.

I beat godskin duo at SL110 first try with no summon no magic. I have no idea how anyone can consider them hard. Its just a crappier version of OandS with better controls on our side

I think gaming especially streaming has become all about competition and therefore takes away from just enjoying the game because you're putting on a show.
