@@klipk7296no, the meteor slam hitbox nerf was also needed because it looked ridiculous how it hit you when your model wasn't even touching his swords. The bloodflame delay was also needed because it was extremely boring to just constantly roll 10 moves in a row before you had a chance to poke him once for half a second. Boss fights shouldnt just be about constantly rolling, it should allow for creative expression in combat as well.

Now you can evade every attack while not being heavily punished or trapped And the comparison with adp is absolutely stupid. Not only adp was a stat that was useless and not needed, but it was to the core bad. You just don't take frames from the player like that Second again this is a stupid argument because at least the devs acknowledged their errors and fixed it, adp is STILL bad in big 2024. Some devs wouldn't even mind fixing anything(ex blizzard or ubisoft). At least the devs changed their mind or would you have preferred the boss fight to stay the same mess ? Seriously

Ironically if anything the cross slash was the complete opposite of ds2, requiring very specific positioning and light roll or just using the backstep talisman. Adp in ds2, looking at it without bias, actively encourages and allows for more build variety from your stat investment, more than any other souls game. If you want to be agile and use backsteps, get around 105 agility to make use of them. If you want to be tanky, don't level it as much and use a shield with heavy armor. Or if you want a middle ground just stay at 90-100 agility. It allowed for more in depth build making than what we have in the newer games. Adp isn't a simple 'level up to win' stat, it's an interesting rpg mechanic that allows for fine tuning of builds to meet specific needs, regardless of how it's conveyed to the player.

They directly lowered the attack damage for all of the attacks, the boss now attacks less frequently, and they decreased the speed of the attacks as well, the fps change was needed but the other changes were an overkill and not necessary in my opinion, they even removed the opening attack because apparently people are too stubborn and impatient to be able to dodge one attack and then summon their mimic

The fight is better now. The slower cross slash alone makes the whole rhythm of the fight better. If people equate difficulty to gooder, then yes, it is less gooder. But a fight is much more holistic than raw difficulty and the changes were needed. For example, saying he attacks "less often" is a bit misleading. He doesn't chain up to 18-20 attacks anymore. He is still a pretty unrelenting beast.

My guess is that they were somehow the attacks that killed people the most. It was good, but I would prefer if the cross slash was faster at the start, with a bigger start up to compensate. The attack was meant to punish dodging backwards, but the hitboxes made dodging everywhere except to the left impossible without getting hit once. Making it faster retains the punish from dodging away while making one dodge all that is needed to avoid the move.

Some other changes: - The cross-slash backstep attack also has some more recovery frames. - The explosion attack in phase 2 is slightly smaller, in addition to just being less bright. - Apparently, the hitbox tied to PCR slamming his swords into the ground when preparing for the rock-sling is still there, but is isolated at the tip of his swords instead of being on the whole thing. Unchanged things: - I kinda wish the double-clone distance-closer attack was editted a little bit, because it having so many hitboxes attached to it always made it feel a bit inconsistent in my experience, plus the placement of the apparition of Radahn seemed to sometimes be weird. - It seems like, just from videos of 1.14 Radahn, that the i-frame ignorance issue is still a thing on that vertical slam he does with both swords. Not 100% sure though, because personally, I only had that issue occur for me once ever, so I'm parroting this claim from other people. - The clone follow-ups after the phase 2 rock-sling are completely unchanged, which is unfortunate because the inconsistent timings of the clones coming out is a big issue when actually rolling the attack instead of just outspacing it (something you can't really do in some circumstances). There might be very slight differences with how PCR tracks you when you bait him in one direction, and then go in the opposite direction, but if so, it's very miniscule. Personally, I really like the changes, but some things make me a little sad, since I was so used to the original, flawed as it was. For instance, I wish the fast follow-up after the 4 vertical-clones attack was still there, since that was only a problem because of visibility being an issue imo, which also got fixed, so I think the added time between the clones and the follow-up was a bit much, but it's not necessarily bad by any means. Even after being so used to this fight from an RL1, and liking it for what it was, I was, and still am an advocate for making the fight more accessible for the general playerbase. And largely, I think this is a fair change for a boss that really needed it, since, imo, it just felt very unfinished and lacking of that FromSoft boss polish I and so many other people have come to appreciate. Now all we need is a change to that goddamn Metyr laser (and, also a Waterfowl Dance change would be nice, but I think that ship sailed a while ago lol).

It still isn't fun, btw. I used to defend ER from idiots spamming "rollslop" and pretending that's all there is too ER but sadly, PC Radhan seems to be the very definition of rollslop still. Just spam roll until you get a half a second opening to """""""punish""""""" with a light attack before he starts with his next 8 hit combo. It just isn't fun. I like to dance with the bosses, punishing every single attack they do with the many different attack types and animations. This just isn't possible with PC Radhan. It feels automated, it feels like being forced to carefully rehearse a very specific dance dozens of times so you can finally beat him instead of, you know, dancing your way. My way of playing works on EVERY single boss BUT PC Radhan.

When I heard this guy was getting nerfed, I stopped my elden ring update so I could try the boss before the nerf, because I didn't get to him at the time. Now, I killed the boss pre nerf today and came to check what was nerfed. This makes the boss a lot easier. I am glad I didn't apply the update and was able to experience before this.

Delusional. You can barely make out that the 'instant' version of his clone attack is a right handed downwards slash. I used to think it was unavoidable if he decided to do it at that range. Once you do figure it out, he still launches into a combo pretty much immediately afterwards, which is cheap. Bosses shouldn't be in a state of attacking for like ten seconds at a time.

Having beat the dlc 3 times pre nerf i think there are very good nerfs in this fight that make it a lot better, actually all of them are good without making it too much easier. However now it feels like radahn moves in slow motion now. One of the things i loved about pre nerf radahn was his speed and relentlessness but only the cross slash was the main issue. Now that got nerfed along with other aspects that i personally found okay. I suppose it doesn’t matter to me anymore since i got my fill of fighting radahn already so I’m glad for all of the people who can do this fight without having to treat this fight like they are expected to be perfect when they really shouldn’t be asked of such a crazy thing in games like these.

I think the speed of Radahn's combos are just as fast as they were pre nerf. It's just the pace of his fight that feels slower since he is significantly less aggressive now and leaves much bigger openings after his combo finisher attacks.

The only things I really feel were needed were the cross slash nerf and the performance improvements. I guess since he takes longer to recover out of stuff now you’ll be able to stance break him more consistently, but the crazy pacing is something I really love about this fight

@@i_amodyssey1326 the biggest issue with the added recovery is that it seems almost like a bandaid solution to his poise breaking the rules. Despite having the posture bar of a boss like a Tree Sentinel, his posture regenerates as if he were Malenia, with only a 6 second timer before it starts to regen. Because his posture doesn’t play by the rules, you’re better off using a rapier to break his stance

The best change for me is the not instant follow-up attack after the light clones. Not because of attacking back, but it's now more clear to even learn because you can see what he is doing. Only thing I would say that I find strange is removing the hitbox on the slam (followed by the meteors). While it hit me a few times, I didn't think that one was unfair in particular. Even at close range, you had enough time to either dodge or just move away.

Honestly I fell quite the opposite. Ngl the clone follow ups where the main reason I died in my 20 hours of fighting him but they made this fight so much more hectic and intense. They made hesitation defeat which is why I loved em. Also I think figuring out what’s coming is the point and the pleasure of the intense lights. On the other hand the Meteor slam had me raging everytime I got hit cause it does bonkers damage and you’re lying on the ground too long to heal so If you can’t dodge meteors or clones you’re just dead

i agree, it's a guaranteed gigantic initial opening and actually makes the fight easier. where i understand why they would change it is that it gets pretty boring and that attack is not tricky to dodge so that it could be satisfying. ironically i never got hit in my first 2-3 tries by the opening, but later i started getting hit every time for at least 10 tries because it was just so boring i couldn't match my timing.

Glad they changed the light nuke, because it happened to me a lot that i had to waste 1 or 2 extra crimson flasks when i tried to use one, and in the middle of it they made that attack and there was no way to run to safety due to the very tight timing.

It was always dodgeable, just needed very good positioning. Ginomachino did multiple no hit runs on him without using crucible talismans to dodge the attack or light rolling.

This patch has carried him to S tier for me, you can actually dodge the cross slam now front on. You can see what’s happening in phase 2 well enough to learn yourself and not be blinded, the unfair nuke attack that you had to have already been sprinting to be able to dodge has been fixed. I think the only reason people are complaining he’s not easy is because the people who never go outside and practiced him everyday pre patch are so use to the overtuned gameplay that now he seems to easy. Why that’s fair I don’t think it makes him worse. This Radahn is objectively better in every way. People would feel the same way if they nerfed waterfowl dance, I don’t think it matters too much that Radahn isn’t the hardest boss anymore. He’s still the second hardest and the only reason Malenia is above him is bullshit. If Radahn has lost the top spot to bullshit then I don’t think it matters that he’s in second place in terms of difficulty

When I first fought radahn on release, I actually thought I might be completely unable to beat him, I was neither frustrated nor angry, I simply thought I couldn't do it, even after playing other souls games before. And honestly, after beating him twice, I'm pretty happy that was my experience, wouldn't have it any other way. But that's only because it's the last boss in the game, it would be terrible anywhere else.

The double-slash attack was bullshit, so I'm glad they nerfed it to be more easily dodgeable. This was a good idea because it doesn't nerf skill expression - you still need to dodge both slashes, but now it doesn't require frame perfect backsteps with talisman usage. All other nerfs I think were extremely unnecessary and make a fun boss less fun/less challenging, my 2c

I struggled on Radahn for over week with hundreds of losses. I ended up turning the fight into Sekiro using the deflecting hard tear. I spent so much time learning his move set and trying to figure out ways to squeeze out damage. This nerf is probably one of the most aggressive I’ve ever seen a boss get an any Souls/like game. This effectively makes him a cake walk if you’ve spent as much time on him as people who learned his move set. He’ll obviously still be hard for new comers but this is effectively punishment for being a menace during launch. To people who are only getting to him now you effectively fighting a cripple and I’m not over exaggerating lol

I feel like the hitbox removal on his meteor slam wasnt needed, the registration for the hit is VERY obvious, but outside of that, reasonable nerfs. removing his unreactable cross slash follow up was a good call, it was impossible to dodge the first hit but avoid the second, unless you blocked or did a backstep chain, which REALLY goes against the mechanical philosophy of souls games where you can dodge anything in the game.

Funnily enough, I've got to Radahn on the last day before the nerf, tried for 2 hours and didn't enjoy the fight much. On the next day the update came out, though I was unaware of the nerf, but the fight suddenly became so much more fun and I beat it in 5 more hours, so it was still challenging enough.

Naaaah saying this is the best while mesmer is there? I always considered this boss just for showcase purposes, never felt fun with him even after defeating him two times
