@@esincorporated6123 Also the elden ring timings are still very easy to learn. The only hard one is the waterfowl dance. Margits delay attacks can be avoided by two medium rolls. You can still spam roll most of the attacks and let the summons take care of the boss. Also there are so many broken builds in ER too. You can spend an hour to get the BH fang, kill the big dragon. Get Bloodflame blade and you can whoop Margit in 5 hits.

By comparison, a good 9.0 without micro transactions was “game of the decade”, due to how terminal gaming was. Elden ring is great, but it’s down there with DS2; great if it wasn’t fromsoft, but the bar is very high for from making it okay by comparison.

Elden Ring was my first souls game and I now own every fromsoft game from DS1 to Armored Core. Not only that but I quit playing games all together years ago and Elden Ring got me back into gaming and I now have every console and a steam deck with large libraries of soulslikes for each. The third guy, dsp, is the one that got to me, because it's simply not true and I can attest to that. I'm a dad, I'm a casual gamer and I had never player a souls game in my life before ER, and now it's one of, if not, my favorite game of all time. I've tryied multiple builds, heck I even tried mods; convergence, reforged, reborn, darkmoon. And it got me into most of the other Fromsoft games, and even in the soulslike genre as a whole. I had never even heard of From Soft and was only slightly aware of Elden Ring after reading about it when it was first announced. I was restless one night and remembered it was releasing soon, so decided to look it up. It had already been out for a week so I gave it a shot. Flipping through the various classes was a little disheartening at first and I nearly settled on the thief class, which was simply 'okay' to me but acceptable to use. Fortunately, I hit the next tab and saw the Confessor class. That's the first time I've come across a character class in a game and been totally blown away by its design. I spent the next 45 minutes in the character creator and briefly left while the game loaded only to come back to my character standing in a dungeon with no mission objectives or any gps cues to tell me where to go and what to do. Totally confused, I stumbled upon the (pre-patched) message explaining how to do the tutorial and went through it coming out with no less confusion. Long story short, when I finally made it into the open world, I was pretty awe-struck by how gorgeous it all was. It took a long time to wear off, but I kept thinking how genius the gameplay system was for removing all navigational systems to allow for organic exploration. Fast forward to present day DLC release that I started with a NG+7 character in Elden Ring. I became such a huge fan of Elden Ring, I next tried out Sekiro, which has the most rewarding combat I'll likely ever experience in a game. Guess I'm working backwards through the catalogue. I very much enjoyed your overview and couldn't agree more. Well done.

Sekiro, for me, is probably the perfect ‘Souls-style’ game from FS. You should definitely try out Dark Souls 3, too. Also, if you’ve never played Armored Core, you should look into it; it’s been one of my favorite gaming franchises since I was a kid.

Elden Ring is my #2 game of all time. I do think FromSoft could improve the menu and unlock the frame rate. Scrolling through 12 spells gets old and would love to see a quick select menu for weapons, spells, incantations & talismans.

I do agree to some extent with the new soulslike bosses all having crazy move sets with the delays feints and endless combos. Lies of P, and sekiro were brutal with the delayed swings. That being said Elden ring is an absolute masterpiece and maybe my favorite game of all time

I can say the guy at 9:25 who he is describing doesn't exist was me: I never played a souls borne. I watched Elden Ring trailers and due to the level design, fantasy elements, and hearing about FromSoftware I gave it a shot. I got so immersed in the game I couldnt put it down for 2 weeks. It didnt feel like any game I had ever played before. Truly incredible. 'Got Good' and persevered all the way to the end doing 100% everything and enjoying every second of it (except maybe the mountaintops of the giants - boring area). One of the only 10/10 games I have ever played still to this day alongside Nier Automata and Golden Sun TLA.

It's okay so far. The exploration is always good. The difficulty spike is a bit too much for my taste. The biggest issues are technical. Framerate drops are frequent and severe.

Elden ring was my first souls game. I played it for two hours and got my ass kicked by the tree sentinel and quit for a week. Then I watched some videos on why it's a good game and a few videos on basic mechanics and beat the game in a few days. Now I also play Bloodborne and Sekiro and always play underpowered so that I can properly fight each boss like a dance.
