Really out of nowhere boss, but very cool nonetheless. The finger sidequest stuff is so esoteric and bizarre, it might just be my favourite part of the DLC. It's also memorable too, alongside the Abyssal Woods/Midra's Manse, I keep thinking about it over most of the other parts of the game

That's the feeling I got, npc missions were far more easy to follow and missions overall were clear, Midra's Manse is something really unique for someone that has been playing this games for years. The DLC is really something else.

@@knatspray I had no clue there was gonna be a boss at the end, despite all of the build up. Hell even arriving at the arena I thought it was another two/three fingers NPC before the health bar appeared. It's also not the hardest boss in the world either, in both of my playthroughs of the DLC Metyr took me around 3-4 attempts so it was over quickly too. Still a great fight and quest though.

I hate that attack, I have no idea how you're meant to dodge a wall of damage that chases you down. Can't go forward because you'll just hit the wall, can't go backwards because you'll get caught up to, can't go sideways because you won't make it far enough. You have to already be out of melee range to actually make it out unscathed.

To be fair, when it does that unless you have a light load, you'll die pretty much. It's not an attack you're supposed to be near. You can dodge it, but I've seen it's most best with light load.

This fight would be easier if you could use torrent. The area is big enough for it. Wouldn't be surprising if they change it to that, but also doubt it, the attack are pretty basic. I definitely don't recommend this specific fight under level 200 and blessing level 7 on both you and your summon.

This. Just because Metyr was sent by the greater will doesn’t mean she is the greater will, merely an envoy. Scoping the place out. She once communicated (I think he staff mentions she did communicate), but she hasn’t heard anything back for an incredibly long time. The Elden beast comes after Metyr as the vassal for the elden ring, but my head cannon was this happened after Metyr stopped receiving info from the greater will. The Elden beast was their final message. The fingers provided the seeds for the erdtree, and the elden beast provided the elden ring, the foundation of the order. When fighting the elden beast we see many erdtrees, maybe all different seeds grown in different places, but I can only assume that each and all are separate from the greater will. Why would the lands between be the only example of the greater will failing to communicate?

A lot of her attacks have slight delays to roll catch you. I'd suggest using the talisman that improves rolling, and also to use a slash weapon with bleed. She is VERY weak to those 2 things. Most important thing is your shadow tree blessing though. I went in at level 18 on my blessing and she still hurt me a lot when I got hit, so I wouldn't try this one very early.

Use a greatshield and whenever they finish a melee combo retaliate with an R2 attack. Worked very well for me.

I went into the dlc running an int build and got just past the Lion boss. Switched to a pure strength build using the new solitude armor and the great sword. It mostly helped but this dlc is tough, even with a bunch of the tree fragments buffing your strength and defense. But this fight was probably the first one where I felt I properly dominated. Still got killed a few times but man, that victory came way easier than it did others… that stupid boar rider….

​​@@Buu_OW I took Gaius down in 10 attempts. Outside of his stupidly inconsistent charge attack, none of his moves were hard to dodge, but you had to always pay attention to him. To be honest, the most annoying fight for me was against Leda and her stupid friends, because it was me running around for 10 minutes, hoping Ansbach would be useful and waiting for the moment one of the NPCs charges me while the others stay back, so I can hit the NPC until the other two run towards me again.

I genuinely didn't know how to approach this thing so i wound up equipping the Great Club and spamming Golden Land from a great distance. The gold darts deal reliable damage and have stupidly long range. In phase 2 she gained an opening during her floating-helicopter-gap-closer move where if i out spaced it i could cast a full rot breath on her, after ~2 or 3 casts it proc'd rot and that alone can wipe half her health if you focus on dodging. Not my proudest kill but i still won the fight.

For the first laser, you can use vow of the indomitable, or raptor of the mists, or Miriam's vanishing into quickstep/bhs (use the spell and then spam qs/bhs, the timing is a bit finnicky but possible), or run away very far from her. After either of these, you can run up to the wind thingy and you'll dodge all lasers. Presumably lol

Out of every boss I find her fits for the final boss the most. Everything that happened to the Land Between after Marika became a god was her. She knew her creator(the Greater Will) never bother the Land Between to begin with so she use Marika for her own benefit.

So this was from soft's opinion on AI all along. Since Metyr came from another dimension it likely couldn't hold a full form due to our dimension's limits. So it tried to mimick what was likely the most important aspect, the hands. But did it badly, just like when you use AI to generate images of hands. It messes up.
