I wouldn't call it a cheese strat. Some people don't have hours or days for studying bosses. I'd call it easy mode and hard mode. It's nice to have that choice.

Defeated her on my mage build after 20 tries I think 😬. Used Meteorite spell only, just keep your distance but watch out for your stamina always save for running, dont spam spell. To dodge Waterfowl dance, when she's winding up, run the direction shes facing until after second flurry then roll or walk pass under her on the third, if you cant time 3rd flurry, use 100% shield and block while walking underneath her, best one is Loretta's (boss before her). For the Flower dive bomb, run underneath her dont stop if your using mage best time to hit her with Comet Azur. Summon Black Tiche before end of first phase for diversion.

I've been getting clobbered by this rotting fish taco for what has to be over 50 attempts now. I've made it to phase 2 once. I just can't get passed the water fowl attack. I have been able to survive it 3 times. At this point in time the fight isn't even that impressive, it's just annoying. Her tracking is onto a BS level. I've had the worst luck with her getting poise-locked and then as I am mid rise, she water fowls me and kills me before I can finish standing, let alone dodge. Then i have the times where i beat her silly and she jumps way back and slowly paces. I know that the moment i get close to her she's going to water fowl me so we just pace back and forth with her forcing me to move forward to make her initiate my death. It's just so annoying. This is quite possibly one of the worst boss fights I've ever seen, let alone from FromSoft. They gave her every cheat in the book and it's not even fun anymore.

the waterfowl is the real danger in this fight and is the one thing that can turn a perfect run super sour! agreed 100% Sometimes if you can spare the weight try to have a bow or a throwable item and see if you can hit from a distance and then quickly run in a bit and then away. Might help the unprompted spur of the second waterfowl dances she pulls out of nowhere!

I didn't even bother understanding weapon arts or ash of war stuff until my third playthrough when I decided to see what they all did. Until then it was just me swinging a big sword around like how I play through dark souls.

Amazing tutorial, but I am wondering one thing: how important is the bloodhound step to defeating her? I have an art of war that I use in some of the big openings (sword dance) and I wanna keep using it, but I am also fairly new to the souls series so I know the bloodhound step would make it easier for me to manage waterfowl and such. what do you recommend?

It is true that using bloodhounds step is a huge disadvantage in that it might remove a far more useful art of war. That said, I initially downed this boss without Bloodhounds step on my first playthrough. Bloodhounds step is just an additional dodge that creates more distance and frames of dodge, than your standard dodge. So if you play it more cautious and aren't hugging her all the time you should be fine. This will give you the necessary time you need to roll out of the way. Bloodhounds step is just an easier way to accomplish this, but by no means is it the only way to accomplish this. If you don't have any issue with her reach when you attack then I say learn her without it!

If you can’t beat her solo then use a blasphemous blade +10 if you have a strength faith decent build and have your mimic tear use it too, it should be plus 9 or 10 by now, the aow on this weapon heals you and your mimic and she is weak to fire so once your Mimi c has aggro spam the aow and you’ll be in phase 2 quick , Phase 2 run away from flower bomb and while she’s in flower spam aow , and you’ll have her half way, if she’s coming after you run towards your mimic and let it get aggro again then double team melee until she flower bombs again Get away and spam aow and fight will be over If you have a strength dex build I used bloodhound fang +10 with bloodflame and gave it to my mimic too and had a +25 fingerprint shield to block all her attacks Then let mimic get aggro and just start hitting her hard and you’ll trigger a stagger and riposte soon and bleed which will take you into phase 2 quick Phase 2 when she’s in flower throw volcano it’s or frost pots or stone of guranq, they all do great damage then once your mimic gets aggro again and flower rot is gone double team and if you’re able to trigger a bleed and one more stagger it will be over , otherwise if she flower bombs again just repeat and it will be over soon

hahah You can take this guy down at level one using that strat! This is usually the first thing I do in the game. Travel here gathering stones and collectibles along the way and the greatsword. By the time you get here and make enough minor detours the runes you get from him can level you to being able to wield the greatsword and a few levels on it if you got the stones. Learned to do this first after a few playthroughs!

2:02 Not really the easiest way to cheese that Night's Cavalry. The easiest way is to lure him up the northern path and wait until he died from the poison. That said - why cheese a Night's cavalry in the first place? They're among the easiest bosses in the entire ame, the ones with pole weapons in particular.

Appreciate the comment! I know you can cheese him that way, but its not really the safest or easiest method for a level 1 character. Other enemies and a poison effect that chews through your health too fast. Even if this isn't the easiest ever discovered, it is much safer. As for why I did it In this particular instance - this was a fresh game - level 1 wretch with no upgrades on the club. I only needed footage to show where to get bloodhounds step and since my swing took 57 health off him and I didn't feel like running in circles for an hour to kill him for the video. This can be the first boss you kill in the game with this method and then you don't have to worry about dying and dropping your runes in the middle of a path of angry poison enemies only to die on the way back to retrieve them. I would always encourage people to not cheese a boss because it does take away from the experience, but I understand that people struggle and sometimes they need a cheese to experience it at all. two different experiences, both valid.

Glad you managed to fell her! Bloodhounds step gives you that little extra space for error without being so exact and precise in the dodges. You sacrifice a bit by having it, but if you aren't looking for the fastest kill then the breathing room is worth its weight in diamonds

For me this is called "greatsword", it's found in northern caelid on the back of a wagon. I prefer this one over others as you can put different affinities on it unlike the legendary colossal greatswords

@@israelmota7647 you probably got lucky. Most of the times aggressiveness will get you killed because malenia can pull hyper armor moves out of her ass without warning. I've done multiple playthroughs and sometimes i was able to stunlock her to death but other times she would ignore my attacks and two shot me.

That would be bloodhounds step! Other items I use are always something that contribute to str or dex stats, usually. Whatever the weapon I am using will best benefit from.

I've gotten close a couple of times today. Been trying at her for over 100 tries by now i think. The first phase is in the bag. But i can't get used to phase 2 for now. For some reason the ghost attack always catches me. Even though i try to dodge it the way everyone on KZbin does. Also when she does her flower attack a second time. For some reason I can't always dodge it and it one shots me. But there is hope.

Keep at it and I know you'll get there! You've had a lot of practice on phase 1 so don't beat yourself up if you get caught on the little things in phase 2! Once you down her it will feel like all the pieces aligned just for you. Some tips! On the Phantom spirits make sure to take a half beat before dodging. If you dodge as soon as they move by the time they reach you you'll be standing and take the hit. For the flower attack be mindful that immediately und her there is an invisible wall! I would say try walking to screen left and then after a couple steps start running to screen right (being mindful of your space of course) I wish you the very best of success on her!

I am not entirely sure what my stats were but they were all dumped into str and dex. I would have likely been higher than level 80 as I tend to clear all dungeons when I play through. My greatsword was max with ice

Oh yeah! I use to attempt her with the mimic and she became much more unpredictable. When I started to learn her without the mimic I found she oddly became easier with each attempt because her movements were less chaotic. Best of success to you! you got this!

Although Malenia is indeed hard, she is not the hardest boss of Fromsoft game (to me). That position is for Isshin, the Sword Saint. That old man know how to fight, and you gonna die. A lot.

This is the toughest fight yet. By the time I lock off and start hitting L2 for Bloodhound Step it's already too late. Dead everytime.

My apologies! I didn't intend for it to come across as condescening. The encounter is a very difficult one, 100%. I only meant that she was easy in the context of her moveset not being the most difficult to overcome in the entire game. Waterfowl dance being the exception, and probably the single reason why many can't overcome this encounter. It is also true that mistakes in this particular encounter are much less forgiving than others. Apologies if I cheapened your hard efforts with that comment, was not my intent.

Does your weapon scale it's damage best off strength? 70 strength is likely too high if you're anywhere below 150 and I would lower it to 60 use those points elsewhere or if your weapon scales better with a different attribute max that to 60 instead. It would help to know which greatsword you're using.

How to solo and "easily" kill Melania, as he dances around the runes from his recent defeat. Just memorize all of her moves and dodge them perfectly. Take out the "easily" and I've got no problem with this video.

A lot of her attacks are the same. She has a few new things to watch out for so be sure to really wait for those clear openings and only jump in when she's stopped moving. The attacks that are similar to phase one usually just have an additional attack on the end of it. With more practice you will get it. You can fight her phase 1 over and over so you can't really practice phase 2 unless you get there consistently so you'll soon see that her phase 2 will be as difficult as phase 1. if it takes you 15...30...50 tries to get through her phase 1, expect that or more for phase 2! Keep in there! you got this!

This is just the greatsword. It is found in a chest on the bag of a wagon, northern Caelid. if you creep in from the cliff on the top and jump over to the wagon and drop down you can usually grab it without alerting the raptor dog and angry bird!

Hello man , my jump heavy attacks do 961 bmg and i am lvl 130 with 70 strength. +25 greatsword. Could you help me with what i am missing?

I would say if your sword has a secondary stat and you want more dmg per swing that you would put some points into the secondary stats as well for that weapon. Also adding frost or bleed effects on them will give them an additional buff on damage dealt. Otherwise you can try different talismans to give you an extra pool of stats to work with!

This is called "Greatsword" I gave it the cold effect. If you follow the path into Caelid from Limgrave you will find it along the road in the north in a chest on the back of a large broke down carriage surrounded by a raptor dog or two! I'll have a video up tonight that shows its location!

And it is very good weapon especially with the lion claw ..as well as it's heavy attack you can stun bosses really quick

@@chrisyoung186 I haven't used the lion claw! I should on my next playthrough, but I usually find myself falling into the "just a sword and bow are all the tools you need" haha kind of rut. Might be fun to try something new!

still trying to do this boss.i have managed to get to the second phase a few times now but without the stats needed for ROB or using Bloodhound step i keep getting caught by her waterfowl dance and then the dudes running at you phase 2. she is frustrating lol.i beat gods ad demi gods with ease but cant beat a woman

Malenia is not easy. Players make her easy. Do the boss with fists and lvl 1 and that without hours of practice (if the boss is that easy)

Hey thanks for the comment! I've done fist only runs before, but doing anything with a handicap of level 1 isn't really why I play the game, zero interest in doing a no hit run, which is ultimately the biggest hurdle with being lvl 1, and for any encounter. Waterfowl dance aside, everything Malenia throws at you is very dodgeable. I absolutely consider Fallingstar beast a more difficult encounter due to tight quarters and its move-set which isn't nearly as easily dodged. At least with Malenia you have a large arena and can run to a far end, take your time, land a hit, wait again. You have the option of patience in this fight, which isn't always the case with the Elden Rings super aggressive boss encounters.

Blood hound step is basically a cheese

I guess in the same way any ash of war is a cheese when it gives you a tactical advantage. stomps, range damage, offensive buffs, knockbacks, Dmg over time, invincibility. Except with this ash of war you could spam it until cows learn to jump over the moon and you'll still be no further ahead in the fight. People like to shit on bloodhounds step but if I used Vow of the Indomitable to turn myself invincible during the attack and stood still i'm sure no one would call it a cheese. Even with using bloodhounds step, you still have to learn the fight.

I can't remember what my level was on that run but I know I stacked str and dex as its a str/dex weapon but i don't think I had more than 70 str. Was your weapon full upgraded too?

Well it is intended as an easy kill guide. I wouldn't say its necessarily a cheese, just an easy stress free way to get out of range. Nothing is realllyy being exploited. I think most people won't use the bloodhound's step for 90% of the attacks since you can easily dodge roll past them and its an unnatural button to use for dodging.

Also rolling is cheese. The only no cheese strat is not to roll and only attack once every 1 min. Armor is not allowed and you have to be level 1. And of course use only one hand, blindfolded. If you use anything else, you’re using what the game gives and this is considered cheese.

There is no exploit by using bloodhound fang. Is it easier than rolling? Yes. Is it the definition of cheese? Certainly not because it is not an exploit rather than a usable weapon art. Cheese is ultra subjective in video games - specifically in this one. For example - I can say you've cheesed Melania because you're higher level than X.
