It's really good, and I had a lot of fun playing it, but it suffers from open world fluff a bit too much with repeating bosses and dungeons for me to consider it a masterpiece. I beat the game, and at the end of it, it got tiring fighting the same side bosses after a while. My positives still outweigh these issues, which are personal views at the end.

Depends, it can be the easiest depending on how you play (ie use spirits to help you fight) but is also the longest. If you like open worlds then yes, definitely. If not I’d reccomend either dark souls 1 or 3

Yes it’s probably the better one to start with, I think it’s the easiest if you explore and do the dungeons…dark souls 3 or bloodborne are the other 2 i would consider. Sekiro is awesome but it is super difficult if your not good at these games.

I prefer Dark Souls III, but if you like open world Elden Ring isn't a bad place to start. I recommend avoiding guides unless you are truly stuck, and I know these games have a "git gud" reputation, but if you are struggling with a boss you should go level up and come back. Don't force yourself to play in a way you don't enjoy either, if you want to use magic, don't listen to the people saying that you suck or anything like that. Good luck.

There are three attack buttons for most weapons if you include your weapon art. Each string combos either 3 or 5 times with your heavies and lights, also giving you variable heavies. You can also parry/ riposte. Games telling you where to go exactly every time is so dull, this is actual exploration. I’d rather drive a nail into my head than play another Ubisoft open world quest marker hunt. Your only good point is the story is a bit weak if you don’t like lore diving which is valid. Basically this isn’t for you then, just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s not good. Have fun with what you wanna play, i’d love to hear what that is.

​@@MXCDBXYyour first point is subjective so you can't use that to say something is objectively mediocre, just that you don't like it. 2.the enemies are not unbalanced enough to be a real complaint, the only type of enemy that is unbalanced is duo bosses. for all the others you just have to learn how to deal with them, for godskin duo you use sleep pots for example. 3. that's all YOU do maybe, that is not what most people do. there's a lot of depth to the combat and it's possible to complete Elden Ring with any build or strategy. 4. it doesn't hold your hand but you get enough information so you can progress, the sites of grace have a beam that tells you where to go to progress the main story. NPCs like Melina and Gideon also tell you what to do generally. 5. not only is this subjective, it's also wrong. this is a common complaint though but only from people who don't understand that the story is told in an unconventional way. Environmental storytelling and item descriptions give you most of the story, it isn't told to you by a talking head like in God of War. watch some lore videos about Elden Ring, i genuinely think you'd like the lore and you'll be pleasantly surprised. by the way, just to be clear, it's totally fine to dislike Elden Ring, but you're acting like it's objectively mediocre when it really isn't.

Im not that good but yesterday I first tried Malenia during my DLC preparations by using Moonveil. I so hyped I switched to another playthrough where I got stuck at Malenia for like a year or so (NG+6, Uchigatana) and first tried her again while dodging three waterfowl’s in the second phase without any cheese. I killed her twice in about 15 minutes and I’m proud of myself.

My one issue with ER is that the dodge window is like 1-5 frames later than what feel natural to me. It makes the dodge feel very awkward like you have to wait for their hit to like kind of connect already and its just uncomfortable.

This game is 100% of social media game, where most of the fun comes from telling your friends and people online you did X thing over doing the thing itself. It's the easiest Souls like, but it still has the same jank combat and most of the difficulty comes from memorizing a boss's attack patterns and knowing which direction to dodge them. The world is large, but largely has the same post apocalyptic biomes that maybe a different color filter in each area to represent rot or snow. I also find it hilarious how Souls fans praise it for not holding hands, and then you see online guides having millions of views because nobody can figure out how to get certain endings to quests.

whats wrong with searching up how to get a certain item or weapon? There are guides for linear progression games too so that debunks the entire claim. Yes elden ring has little to no hand holding but thats what many people enjoy

I've loved the Souls Borne series for a decade but I didn't know how it would translate to open world, I shocked at how amazing Elden Ring was.
