Lmao I tried using that one meteor spell from this dlc and died halfway before it went off. Same with the triple moon slam you will never have a chance of getting off these spells.

@@Suowooo they are all 100% worthless. The only one that's halfway decent is Thorns and that's becasue it's so broken it's shit casting animation time is passable. The whole game was over once we got Comet / Night comet. Other spells honestly shouldn't even exist they are so worthless by comparison.

@@rakiest Vortex of Putrescence and Blades of Stones are solid, the Nail spells have good tracking for input readers, and Rings of Spectral Light is like a comet sidegrade with longer range and frostbite. It's not that bad... But they're bugged! They don't work with Prince of Death Staff or Godfrey Icon!!

Good to see that there was another way for mages to get it done! Your run still required some very skilled dodging (which many of us mage players aren’t great at…hence the mage build lol). I personally went with a point blank Impenetrable Thorns spam. Also used the mimic, and had only the one sorcery equipped so it was his sole option. Thankfully FP cost is so low for Thorns that Lusat’s staff isn’t too much of a burden. Also had to use damage negation buffs to high hell (golden braid, dragoncrest greatshield, golden vow, lords divine fortification, opaline bubble tear)

I ran a hybrid moonveil / staff build. This is pretty much what i did in phase 2. When he did the aoe thing, i didnt bother running, i just tank and spam comet 😂 when you enter the boss room, you can quickly cast freezing mist since he’ll rush you anyway, that’s a free cold status build up.

@@MrFreshGamer101mine? I don’t have the game open but i think base stats without armor / talisman were 55 vigor, 40 mind, 35str, 40 dex, 70ish int and everything else is base. I was level 200 when i finished, with 19 scadutree level. I ran the max fp talisman, the shaman braid? (I forgot the name), the reduce damage talisman and marika / radagon seal (i also forgot).

I am not someone who struggles with FromSoft bosses. Nothing takes me more than a few tries, totally offline with no mimic or cheese builds in any of their games and I've played all of them for almost 2 decades. The 2nd phase on this boss isn't humbling. It's f**king stupid. Whoever came up with the nukes, the flashbombs, the roll catches, the grab garbage, the space closing 7 move combos should be fired. You did great and it was still almost for nothing because of that stupid aoe at the end. I have never felt so unsatisfied and purely lucky to beat a boss in one of these games. I hate that I know I'll have a way easier time just parrying/running katanas/using some big dumb shield on this pos in the future, if i even bother.

He is egregiously overtuned. Malenia is a bloody cakewalk in comparison. I’d rather fight her 100 more times than this abomination. Her fight is fair and fun. This is just ridiculous. The skill floor to beat him is absolutely insane. Ergo, my build that worked against everything else in the game is now instantly trash, and I have to use a shield to be able to consistently survive. I also adore how they’ve put two sets of gear behind beating him with dual cooperators. Boss was annoying with 100% health? How about 300% instead?! Bad game design - needs a bit of tuning down.

I ended up loving this boss, because I had to respek my character 10 times and found the right build, shield and magic to use. It took me 8 hours and 30 minutes to beat him. Malenia took me 4 months, but I had a much easier time against her during my second play through.

I beat him, all rememberance bosses & like 90% of the minibosses in the DLC within 2 weeks of it coming out & haven't touched it since. I've beaten the base game, twice, since then (trying to 100% it) but I really don't feel like doing SotE, again & really have no reason to. I only started playing FS games this past winter, with Bloodborne but I've beaten that, ER, SotE & am halfway through DS1 & Consort Radahn is the one boss that didn't feel like an achievement, it felt like I got lucky with rng.

100% agree. I took my time with the dlc so I barely got to his arena last week. It took me a whole week to beat this garbage boss, with 3-4 hour sessions of constant despair. Before the dlc I always knew Malenia had her bullshit waterfowl attack, but with practice even that’s dodgeable; the rest of her fight can be done solo with patience. The second phase of Radahn is fucking stupid. Every boss I’ve faced has their challenges but they’ve never been so bs that I’ve had to switch weapons to counter them; I’ve always got by with a staff in left hand and sword in the other. I run a battle mage build so first phase I can get my sorceries off pretty well, but second phase I had to abandon them and go full melee, and used raptor of the mists on a throwaway weapon to get through that bullshit AOE nuke. It’s nice to see that this big motherfucker with a zesty femboy attached his back can actually be defeated as a pure mage build. Props to OP fr

It's probably the first video I've seen where the player wasn't just cheesing him. Gg. I run a similt build and its been an absolute nightmare for me with this boss.

@@TheRailwaystationist Yes it does, the testing has been done and it's literally confirmed in the game explanation that Dex increases cast time. Look it up before you talk about something you don't know homie

For intbuilds I really believe that being close range with good weapon and building up frostbite is best way to go. You can get off adula moonblade and frozen mist (possbily from ash) on your turn, and lot of time he just stays in the mist long enough to get hit. This greatly improves your damage, and combining that with rycards rancor was great damage while resetting frostbite to go again. Trying to stay at range and cast away seems like impossible challenge with this damned guy :D

This encounter is 100% fucking worthless as a mage. I only do Int builds, and most bosses are down in like 20-30 seconds once you figure it out cuz dmg... This fight doesn't give you even a few split seconds to even attack. And his p3 attack is just fucking bullshit. I hated this encounter as a mage... It's so poorly done it boggles the mind.

I've killed him twice with STR & DEX build but fighting him the 3rd time as a mage is pure BS, unless you get lucky with the AI for him to do attacks with big punishing window there's barely enough time to drink a flask let a lone cast a spell. Edit: Actually I take it back, due to his long combos, he'll take full damage of a charged Founding Rain of Stars, just cast it after he finished his long combo and circle around it, you can also cast it while being far away from him, he'll just jump into you and eat the spell up, it's the best spell for phase 1. As for phase 2 I still don't know, Ice Spear AoW I guess. Light rolling actually help a lot if you already known his movesets

holy cow, some great dodging and and keeping your distance to cast your spells. i'm running a mage build and i'm having a hard time on this boss. i get kileld fast. I'm Scadutree level 17, revered ash 9. 60 vigor, 38 mind, 20 endurance, 83 int, 55 faith and 38 dex. tried multiple spells, different sorcery and incantation. I might go back with Comet or Night comet. Impenetrable thorn is great but the boss is too aggressive and closes in fast. might have to respec, but for now i'll just explore the remaining areas and bosses of the DLC. maybe i can find a few more scadutree to level up and get my revered ash to 10.

summons are really only good for like one or two aggro pulls in some of these more aggressive boss fights.

All im saying to my fellow mages ggs. As a mage pure int build, this DLC is not forgiving. I did radahn with my scadutree being lower than intended. I waited until the 2nd phase to use my summon. Had to get his 1st phase close to perfect. Ggs!

honestly not to be one of 'those' people, but never once in this game have I ever needed any buffs or consumables or anything. This is how I play ALL games. Never played or heard of FromSoft before ER... And it kinda pisses me off I need consumables for this boss. That feels like cheesing to me. I've never needed items in 187 hours until this waste of a boss.
