If you turn in all the death roots to the Beast Clergyman before this fight there is unique dialogue at the beginning because he thought of you as a friend just like how Sif thought of you as a friend. But they both had duties to protect what was theirs. I love From games man....

Imo this is the greatest fight in Elden Ring, once you got his rhythm down, its just like a dance, back and forth between the boss and you. Although his moves are easy to read, they are built around punishing greedy players, so once you quell your thirst down, the fight become so much more satisfying. For those who dont know how to dodge his flurry stab in phase 2, he usually (but not always) does that after the overhead slam attack. Wait and see if he keep attacking after the slam, if he does then run behind his ass and you can give him a full charged heavy. Edit: After fighting him for the 99+ time in NG+7, I take back my statement about him punishing greedy players. Rather, you want to be as aggressive as possible, as Maliketh is very agile and wont stand still for you to attack. What you need is good positioning, which allows you to attack him unscathed even during his combo. And yes, this is true even with dual GS, which are slow af.

oh wow so i'm supposed to use a straight sword or a shooting katana and 20 thousand summons instead of trying to beat this boss alone with a heavy weapon? no you can't fucking do a heavy attack on him because you can't even get close to him most of the time, and when you can, it's better to just do a rolling attack and even then it's not guaranteed that you won't get hit for your entire healthbar it's not about greedy players here, it's about landing at least a single attack after a 20-hit attack chain from a boss, when each of those attacks can one shot you

@@gluelake almost no getting good with a random boss that can kill you in 2 hits anytime. if you can actually dodge all of his attacms almost perfectly without any struggle, more power to ya, but to me, it was the most bullshit boss i've ever beaten, i had to make so many attempts to at least memorize all of his first stage attacks although i havent even reached malenia yet, so im pretty sure that will be a lot of fun

This boss is absolutely magnificent, pure art. His design looks like a marriage between Vicar Amelia and Artorias, with a hint of Ludwig. Elden Ring has taken the concept of boss fighting to such a high level that it will be very difficult to beat.

All the other games have better boss rosters. Elden Ring has amazing spectacles but they aren't that FUN, especially if you just want to do a 2hand dodge roll build, no summons or parries

@@FSVR54 I feel, the game is really hard for melee builds, but I wouldn’t say in a fun way. I use some weapon arts and a summon for the fights and am having a blast now tho, coz solo melee I was frustrating lol

He safeguarded the rune of destined death, but fragments of it were stolen by the black knife assassins to kill Godwyn the Golden, thus causing the Shattering. Out of shame he sealed the rune within himself so that it could never happen again, until the player's tarnished encounters him.

Maliketh was Marika's half-brother and a fierce warrior loyal to her. Apparently, he is the one who killed the Godskin Apostles' Queen and banished them. Marika charged him with guarding the Rune of Death, which he did, but a fragment of it was stolen by the Black Knife Assassins, who used it kill Godwyn. Out of shame, Maliketh sealed Death itself in his own flesh to prevent anyone from stealing it from him ever again and assumed the alias of "Gurranq, the Beast Clergyman".

Now that I'm re-watching this, I cant stop thinking that the Elden Beast is manifestation of the Erd Tree itself, Melina set the tree ablaze but its trunk only starts burning after you claim the rune of death which means the Erd Tree is a life that cannot die like the rest of the Lands between while Maliketh says "Witless Tarnished... Why covet Destined Death? To kill WHAT?" (not whom, might be a slight imply). I thought the Erd Tree and the Elden Beast were two separate beings of the greater will but now I really cant stop thinking its the same being. Plus one off topic statement which I believe is at least 70% chance to be truth. The lands between clearly refer to Elden Ring (as a game) is combination of all the Fromsoft games (which is a fact) and is meant to represent a CENTER (trunk) which distributes differently among the other lands (branches). If my theories are right then this only makes this a double wonder for the other one is Fromsoft referring to Berserk's tree. I never saw Berserk but I know a thing or two about it but its definitely on my to watch list.

They're weak to magic, if you're melee and using strength/dex I'd recommend putting magic onto your weapons. Poison works aswell.

I just used mixed physick with damage negation and increased posture breaking. First phase takes 5 hits and done. Second phase I just prayed to survive until it worked lol

Worst souls game. This game feels rushed. I dont think the same person/people who made the real souls games created this one. They took the souls games mechanics, added an uninteresting plot and instead of designing some good bosses they just threw in some generic bosses and gave them unlimited stamina and aggression to spam the same mover over and over and over.

There's something I don't understand: He purposely sealed Death within him so it wouldn't be stolen ever again right? And he Lives in Death, meaning much like a Tarnished, he can't really die right? So why then unseal his blade and risk having the Death rune stolen? Seems like the opposite of what he tried to do. Seems like a plot hole (That said I love him.)
