it's a side project cobbled together by a side team, a proof of concept and a proof of competence for it's director. We're not getting this 'instead' of the next souls or armoref core or whatnot. in that context, I'm happy to keep expectations low and just give it a try. At the very least, ot should be a new multiplayer game to try with my bros in 2025 should monster hunter wilds be tarnished by performance issues or predatory monetization.

As someone who’s wanted a mod just like this for a very long time I hope it matches my expectations but I know I’ll have a good time with it regardless. Not a fan of the preset characters but with the pace of the game it makes a lot of sense I just hope there’s still a decent amount of build crafting.

From a lore stance, people would mark the canonicity of some aspects of Rightreign in relation to Elden Ring up to a point where it diverges into its own thing. However, this would also mean that there would be supplementary lore within the game that would corroborate with Elden Ring's narrative and would shed light on some important events like the Night of the Black Knives, or the Battle of Mt. Gelmir.

So now that the Nightreign trailer is out we know that the game universes are connected. We had originally thought Elden Ring took place before the other games but now it seems the opposite is true. Do not fall for the psyop that the game is "non-canonical". They just don't want us to know the truth!

the truth is, George Martin, AKA the man who wrote the world building for Elden Ring and wrote many books for 40 years, litteraly claimed in 2021 (1 year before the game's release) that Elden Ring is a sequel to Dark Souls and everybody laughed at him saying "he meant spiritual sequel, he's just old and doesn't know what he's talking about" and now, since yesterday, everybody is confused so as Todd said "who's laughin now ?" hahaha

Haha definitely! No but ER/DS/BB/etc still dont have any tangible connection "in-universe," and this game doesn't serve to change that. But it will give us some cool interactions between the games, which will be very interesting even if "non-canonical"

​​​​@@MadLuigithe director of Nightreign explained in an interview for Famitsu that what we saw in the trailer are the real enemies from Dark Souls trilogy, not just reused assets, we will fight enemies coming from other worlds, he specifically asked permissions from Miyazaki and Tanimura (both directors of Dark Souls trilogy) to put their Dark Souls enemies and lore into his new game, to litteraly put Dark Souls into Elden Ring, so that's litteraly Dark Souls enemies coming from the Dark Souls universe into an alternate version of the Lands-Between, so still not tangible enough for you ?

i do think this feels like a mod, and it's feeling like p5 strikers that use the same assets as p5 but with different gameplay. i also hope that this game is live service without the compendium, like warframe or destiny, where you play to get the gear, but the devs keep updating the game with new dungeons and bosses. im guessing that's the appeal? they were probably thinking about an elden ring that regularly gets new dungeons and bosses maybe?

My first reaction to this was less than positive. But the more I think about it, the more I'm on board. One of the biggest disappointments about souls games is that replays rarely surprise you. You always know where the enemies are, and afar boss you're wasn't to fight. This might be great, and could lay the groundwork for future titles

We see some of this blue flame i believe around the location you get the Carian Thrusting Shield of Rellana in the DLC and i believe in some Eternal City areas but i am not sure about that.
