At 1:03:56, what he's doing is called "Fast Rolling", which, essentially, if your equip load is light enough, you roll faster and farther away than how'd you normally roll. It is also known to be the bane of strength builds that have big heavy weapons such as Colossal weapons or Great weapons. This is also the reason why you couldn't hit him that much, or him immediately able to backstab you when you go for a heavy attack, since his fast roll is in essence, able to just barely reach you from behind to land a backstab with his weapon.

Calm down with the Harvard explanation professor. Just say you roll further with less on lol. If you were trying to be exact, that's not "fast rolling", that's "light rolling", which is a step above fast because it makes the roll come out noticeably quicker and create a lot more distance instead of just giving you more invincibility frames. It is a thing in Demon's Souls and Elden Ring, there's a version of rolling that's even better than your typical "fast" roll by having close to 0 equip load, and they promptly nerfed it in Elden Ring about a week after they released the arena.

Lol, having a weak opinion in mind and being able to give a Harvard level explanation...dude he's not light rolling, he's wearing a fcking beast champ armor..which should pronounce medium load normal roll for sure even though he got load talisman etc. I won't be surprised if he has poise cuz of poise talisman addition..That guy is just so much better with PvP. His lock off run speed thingy, spacing enough to create opportunity is just fantastic. Latency exists, and you need to react early when opponent move occurs, in that way you are effectively dodging the attacks, phantom status effect hits are inevitable but.. Asmon is terribly bad in game obviously

I think it's fine. I try to avoid 1-1 in 6v6 because someone else will jump attack from behind or just snipe you from across the arena. If someone starts chasing me, I lead them to another 1-1 and sprint through them, leaving the three of them to distract each other and time for me to get my barrings. Sometimes you get ganged up on, but for me, it usually comes down to being tactful and knowing when to let others fight each other.

That kick is crazy on the stun. It's a great ash of war to use for light builds that can stun, stab and move. It bypasses most heavy builds armor with ease.

Don't use shields often! The opponent will make you chase and then catch you with low stamina and poise-break you with one or two attacks. At lower ranks, it's easy, but skilled opponents will use that method (I know I do) and trick you into a crit hit.

Is anyone else having issues connecting to the arena? It takes me like 15+ mins to find a 2v2 or 3v3 if I can even find one at all and every once in a while I can find a 1v1 within the first 10-15mins. I also can no longer see signs at the academy gate. I'm 100% sure all my settings are fine. No passwords active or Nothing. 50mbps with LAN cable connecting to my ps4, my ps4 also has a SSD and im NAT type 2. I could play just fine the first day but now it's basically impossible for me to pvp which sucks considering how much I love it

I’m going to make a build that revolves around playing viscous mind games with my opponent.

That's what I have done. I named my guy Be Funny, I immediately cower on the ground, and then crouch and begin shuffling towards them. I'd say 50% of the time I catch them off guard with a blood slash that usually does at least half damage. I fought one guy four times in a row, and every time I did something different to mess with him, like removing all my armor, or removing my weapons and fighting with my fists. He was actually a great sport, and while he won the first one, I came back for a 3-1 record. At one point in the third match, I pointed at him, removed my weapons, and he did the same. We just started punching and kicking each other until we were half health, and then my bloody slash killed him in one hit. The fourth match ended with him lying on the ground and I butt stomped his face. I love that guy.
