Worst part is you can’t even out run him, you think you’re at a good distance, and he’ll charge crazy fast or send projectiles hurling at you, and especially on his 2nd phase transition where you’ll finally get away, you’ll be mid heal and boom, GRAVITY SPIKES. Like thanks Miyazaki, I love doing a no heal challenge on this boss.

Perfect timing? Nah. The only moves that require PERFECT timing to dodge are Malenia's waterfowl (although it is avoidable in other ways too) and Rykard's first phase earthquake. I'm not saying this is easy to dodge, but it's not too hard either.

I switched to light roll + windy tear in my flask which may be overkill, but overkill might be exactly what you need for that ridiculous boar charge. Beat him 4th try after that, and I only died because I wasn't used to his 2nd phase yet (yea I barely get to 2nd phase at all before).

Idk if I'm overexaggerating here or not, but this might be the shittiest boss I've fought across all the Souls games. It's a good concept, but needed way more testing to make the concept actually succeed. You're expected to fight while mounted, but there are several attacks that feel unavoidable while mounted, so you want to dismount to avoid some of those attacks, but you can't do that because dismounting just puts you at a huge disadvantage against certain attacks because of hitboxes that linger waaaaay too long because they expect you to be running around with the mount. It's a vicious cycle of bad design that needed more cooking. Not to mention the health pool that is heavily inflated for some reason (again, expected to be a mounted combat boss when you are going to be doing considerably less damage than you would unmounted, so why a massive health pool?) I beat this boss 30 minutes ago and I've legit been sitting here trying to think of another boss that I think is as bad as this one, and I can't think of any I disliked more. Even the shittiest Dark Souls 2 bosses weren't as offensive as this because they were at least pretty easy. This boss is just difficult in a way that feels like it was put in to appease any negative reviews that said they were disappointed by the lack of mounted combat in Elden Ring without putting much thought into the fight. Thank god Rellana was such a banger fight.

Like it's not an enjoyable by any means but at least its predictable and he gives you a chance after an attack. Whereas Gaius does a 4-6 hit combo which any one attack takes half of your hp off and then you have a 2 second attack window. This is neither enjoyable or you can power through with grit like with ancient dragon.

I found a method that works if you have tears to respec into intelligence. You will need just lusats staff +10 and the ice storm spell. Equip both graven talismans, the crimson amber medallion +2 and the godfrey icon. At the beginning of the fight, immediately run to that wall on the back left and wait until he charges and walks past you after the attack. Run back to the area with the door and stand towards the middle of the wall. He will be stuck on the other side and unable to hit you. Make sure you have enough blue flasks and spam ice storm and it will drain his health quickly. For your physick flask use the opaline bubble tear and the tear the boosts magic attacks. The bubble tear is so you don’t get one shotted by his gravity attack in phase 2. I summoned my mimic once i got to half his health to buy more time and take the aggro off of myself. This boss needs patched badly. Good luck guys! Hope this helps.

@@BlacklistedSoupif you’re using bleed or a summon he becomes much easier, but he’s faster then your horse, there is almost no dodge window for his charge (which can do upwards of 4k in a single charge and he can charge up to 3 times in a row if you’re unlucky with positioning) but he has a one shot move with the gravity spikes in his second phase that can catch you off guard if your on torrent because of the environment around you. And to make things even worse there’s a bug at the start of the fight where sometimes youll just bug out when trying to summon something and nothing will spawn, because it still thinks you’re outside the arena. Meaning he gets a free hit and now you’re glitched inside of him desperate to spam roll

Since people seems to struggle with this guy, let me give some tips: -His laser spear should ONLY be dodge we he shots it so nothing will hurt you. -Hugging the side and back of the board will avoid consistently their slam attacks and allow to punish them. -Their jump slamp should be ran away, DON'T block it nor stay there. It'll obviously hurt you since it's casting an attack. -You can gain a bit of distance whenever they start to erratically move, so just stay back a bit. The hitboxes need somw tweaking, but this is a simple fight with consistent dodging windows. It should be obvious that you should have some scadutree fragments so it never one or two shots you.

Great shield talisman, black flame protection incant and unlock him when he’s charging, run sideways and roll and you can dodge the charge. Swap between torrent and on foot and it wasn’t that hard . Took like 10-15 tries

Alright guys i beat him, it took like 30 tries but i got the strat. Counter attack talisman and guarding talisman together with an upgraded shield and a quick weapon, i used the Milady with the wing stance ash of war. You can guard his charge and when he does is flurry attack using the boar and himself keep dodging right keeping your eye on the boars head for timings, his sword one be able to hit you from that angle. Use stance physick to get more critical its, do the critical and follow up with a heavy wing stance thrust which will guarantee almost double the critical damage.

Try fighting it with strength build with Giant Crusher with lions claw ash of war and also make sure you equip the stonebarb cracked tear that boosts the chances of getting him stunned and with that you are guaranteed to stun him with 2 ash of war casts, First I tried fighting him with bleed but I just couldn't even perform any attack because he is waaaaay too fucking aggressive and doesn't give you any breathing room. Just beat him solo, using the fire perfume. I think if they patch the charge he'll be a solid boss. However that charge has the double whammy of feeling like a diceroll to successfully dodge (I dodged diagonally forward or directly forward and those had maybe 50/50 odds of working), and being able to double or rarely triple hit which deal obscene amounts of damage.

Yes, completely broken hitboxes in ramming attack (shield block works fine btw), yes too short amount of time for attack or heal. But all his attacks are readable and predictable, it took me about 20 min to remember them all and kill him with even some healing flasks left. Messmer or Relanna were much worse

I have tried every which fucking way. I cannot beat this boss. My first runs I tried spawning mimic but since mimic takes a chunk of health you’re expected to heal. However his charge comes in too fast to heal so you have to dodge. This dodge is the most bullshit hitbox I have ever seen, it might as well be an AOE. I have slowed the footage down countless times in my run, and when my character is completely behind or to the side of the boss I will still get hit. So continuing forward I dodge the roll, immediately since mimic is still taking a bit to spawn, you have two options. 1. To summon torrent and create distance which is impossible due to this guy immediately running after you and getting hits in. Or 2. Keep dodging his attacks and eventually learn the pattern. Once the pattern is learned you can finally fucking heal. But wait, what’s that? mimic is using howl of shabri and the boss immediately punishes your heal, this doesn’t seem to be working. Restart. Spawn outside gate. Go in. Summon torrent immediately, now you have to basically just get lucky and pray that his ram hitbox doesn’t connect, but wait he doesn’t stop chasing you right off the bat, so you have to stop and trick him to continuing forward, now you can get whatever buff/ summon you want off safely. This is a huge learning curve compared to other bosses, there is NO sight reading here. Then once the fight actually begins you have to deal with a gravational spear with a broken hit box, the broken ram, a insane far reach slam attack that somehow will get you from a mile away, the most bullshit rocks that either completely miss you or hit you out of completely nowhere, and then expect the player to 1v1. It doesn’t help I feel like everyone’s summons got nerfed. I have to use summons tbh, Im a father with a kid and I have college, I don’t have the time to “get good” I use a broken build for a reason. But with this guy I can’t even land a hit. Whenever I use my summon I swear he just buffs, shoots one spell at the boss then does the buff rotation again. Or even when I have buffs taken off mimic is braindead lately and just doesn’t attack. I respected to a bloody helic build because I 1v1d bayle with it and was confident I could do the same. There is no difference between magic and melee for me. I truly believe a lot of this is my own rage blinding me and its MY FAULT IM DYING. But there is some defiant bullshit in this boss right now and you cannot deny it. Atp I quite literally am waiting for the patches, that area can remain unexplored I will happily explore else where. I hope of some of yall feel me, just remember the egg theory, you will feel my rage soon one day.

Gaius was one of the most frustrating bosses in DLC, comparable to Scadtree Avatar. And amusingly, he's also Albinauric, the most disgusting enemy in the game. Fighting Albinaurics, it's easy to understand why they are so persecuted in Elden Ring universe. In a word, *I fucking hate Albinaurics except for Latenna!* 🤬
