It’s hinted that Messmer is blind at the start - he’s in the darkness and the snake’s eye is the first thing that we see, note it’s sticking its tongue out too (snakes are deaf, they bring in the scent via their tongue) so the snake is sensing you on Messmer’s behalf

Prior to the fight in Fort of Reprimand there's an interesting perversion of the Soreseals we see like Mesmer's and Marika, but it's Black. It would be used as some sort of fear generator to keep people in line, but I wonder what other applications it had due to it's name being Occultation. Hidden to be simple. Eye of Occultation. Interesting to think Demi God's would undergo autoenucleation, seems like ritualistic brainwashing! Go there if you haven't it's hidden below the fort. It looks like it was once Rykard's many re-education camps 😂

I think my favorite bit of this fight is in Messmer's introduction. At first his tone is dissmisive and haughty, calling you a stray mongrel that dared to enter his house. But then once he gets a good look at you, his tone shifts to one of suprise. He's prolly thinking "A tarnished made it all the way here? How?"

Marika is one of the worst mothers there is, she only used her children as tools for her plans And without a doubt Mesmer so much that they promoted him and took marketing from him and they already told us that he would be an incredible boss and probably the best of the dlc, even if he was not the final enemy, he is the great villain of the story and the one responsible for the destruction of that kingdom, he proved to be a very powerful semi God who is on par with malenia and radahn

Felt like his phase 2 was almost easier. I learned his snake combos and punished with chilling mist. He just kept proc’ing frostbite and that dropped his HP down quick. The snake combos gave me so many punish opportunities it felt scripted whooping his butt that way.

It was to be expected, mesmer took all the attention, marketing, commercials and the one that miyasaki talked about the most before the release of the game, it is practically a similar case to how it happened with artorias, it was the main face of the dlc and it was also an incredible fight, very difficult but undoubtedly the favorite of the fans in that dlc and they repeated the formula with mesmer, Maybe El and Artorias weren't the final bosses but they were the best in their respective DLCs

I’m on ng+ lvl 385 and I had to use a mimic tear while using +10 ruin greatsword (I have 99 strength) and it still took like 20 tries. Phase 2 is actually easier, at least it was for me. I kept dying on phase 1. I still died a few times on phase 2 tho.

Probably one of my the best bosses bosses in a souls game. I love the cutscene where the snake just appears right in front of you. The second phase is also amazing with the giant snake attacks

He has nothing but contempt for Marika , but who doesn't? Yet another victim of her pointless "plans".
