This is brilliant and it explains why the map shows your dropped runes as being "in" the Erdtree if you drop them in the Elden Beast fight. They are there, just very far down. The fight is ostensibly in there, so this perpetuates the illusion. Small thing, but I like it.

Iirc, when doing zip speedruns, you load the arena by zipping in the Godfrey arena and then zip super far to unload the Elden best and killing it while Godfrey starts phase 2, so it would make sense that the best was close. However, when looking at the map, you seem far northwest, witch seems weird if you are bellow the tree.

@SaHaRaSquad2 жыл бұрын
@@videos2896 Yes, the game unloads an area when the player moves too far away from it, and the zip yeets the player far enough that the level around the Elden Beast gets unloaded. And coincidentally the Elden Beast then falls a bit faster to its death than the player so it counts as kill.

The thing is: Having the Elden Beast already loaded into the area of the Erdtree in the Ashen Capital is the *only* reason the speedruns of Elden Ring using zips (Any% unrestricted speedruns) can finish so fast. The current record is 3:58 min (ish) by the speedruner Seeker Start the Game Zip to Stormveil Zip to Raya Lucaria Zip to Bellfries Teleport to Farum Azula Reset to Farum Azula Spawn (place you go after Fire gaint) Two zips to malekith Kill malekith with 4/5 zips Spawn in ashen capital Zip to the top of the gate behind the Elden Throne Zip out of the Map far north of the Haligtree Reappear in front of Hoarah Loux (he will kill you, but the Elden Beast dies at the same time) Appear at Marikas Body The End

@mr_reynard28412 жыл бұрын
to "zip" means that a player will travel a very long distance in one frame. As it happens in one frame, you need frame-perfect inputs to do it It's basicly teleporting. The interesting thing is, that if an enemy is loaded and you use a zip to move so far away from them into an empty part of the map, the buildings and other structure will not bei loaded anymore, but the last loaded enemies are still there. They are then falling to their death. This is how malekith and the Elden Beast are killed in the Speed Run. Distortion2 made good video about it and Seeker is the current record holder. Don't know If Zullie will make a vid about it, but it would be nice to see the enemies falling into nothing as the structure disappears

This teaches a lot to fans as well as possible game designers about the how things can be achieved. But it also serves (to me) as great dedication to lore. The fact that the arena could be anywhere but they still put it at the base of the erdtree seems very intentional, and awesome.
@Sacchi_Hikaru2 жыл бұрын
I don't think there was any lore reason to putting it there, likely just a technical one so there would never be any issues when loading the second half of the final boss, much like how Hoarah Loux is already preloaded for the godwyn fight. I can hear this episode playing out like a children's educational Nat Geo show. (in David Attenborough voice) "It seems like we need to take a closer look to see what's down there. Of course we run into our friend Hoarah Loux, waiting for his turn in the boss arena, but he's not why we are down here. See that distant pattern of lights? Let's say hello shall we. Why it's the Elden Beast! Parts of him must not have been visible from up above!."

If there's one thing I know about speedrunning, there *is* a practical use for this. We just don't know it yet. If we find a way to survive the fall, and if we find a way to get over/through the barrier, you hypothetically could skip straight to the elden beast.

spoiler: it is already the case, with speedruns in 4-5 min

Only after watching the original video and then this did the memory of reaching The Old One slam back into my head. That endless-feeling plummeting fall down to Somewhere Else.

Could we at some point get a nice, up-close look at the Elden Beast? Like, taking off whatever effects it may or may not have, looking at its base model, seeing it perfectly still so we can take in the details of it without having to dodge attacks or chase it down?

That's so freaking cool! All of the game's assets are just somewhere underground or at the edge of the game's like coordinates.

That's really cool, kinda makes it seem like when it's hand comes up that it could even be pushing the platform down even though you don't see that area until it roars

I suppose that begs the question where the Stone Platform is relative to its entrance from Godfrey’s arena. Is it down there, or in a separate area entirely like the Roundtable Hold?
@kRx12032 жыл бұрын
If I recall correctly, the stone platform is actually inside of the Erdtree, since that's where the marking for dropped runes appears when you die to Radagon.
