One of the downsides is that judging distance and spacing becomes harder when everything is scaled down on your screen
@webpombo77657 күн бұрын
That's because this mod doesn't make the camera stay farther away, it just increases FOV, which can make judging distance of things on the center of the screen harder

@@webpombo7765 do you use 'midrange' weapons ? do you use spells or ashes of war that keep you at a safe distance ? do you roll out instead of rolling in ? if you said yes to any of these, no wonder you can't complain, the camera sucks when you're close range, which is ironic because CQC combat is the most fun when fighting a boss. Camera problems have been a thing for a long time in fromsolt souls games, moreso with big bosses, and as for the 'being too close to a wall' excuse, all they have to do is remove the collisions of said walls with the camera so instead it goes through them as they fade out for a clear sight on the boss, which is something they already do with ER npcs, AND that they already did in DS3 with the goddamn chairs. They coulda fixed the problem long ago if they actually cared, which it seems they don't, which sucks since it ruins so many good bossfights... Radahn, dragons, the guy in the vid, so many more...

Bloodborne's camera wasn't perfect, but it had a mechanic where if a boss was between you and the camera, the camera tremendously zoom out for a bit. This is most noticeable with free-aiming Amygdala, One Reborn, and occasionally Ebrietas and phase 1 Ludwig. It wasn't the smoothest, but it did its job of keeping everything visible. idk why Fromsoft refuses to reimplement it

@taidaka8 күн бұрын
Positioning is key for most fights. I do agree that the camera in the base game is wonky at times, but for this boss specifically, the camera only freaks out if you're way too close to the boss or to a wall anyway, something that even without the camera issues is discouraged and punished by the game regularly. This is a specific case that is difficult to avoid, but the boss never forces you into that situation. Be aware of your surroundings and stay away from the walls. Now I'm not saying that the camera doesn't have issues. I'll go into further details on those in a sec, but this mod just isnt it. The FOV is way too high and just makes everything look bad. If the camera was to be fixed (Once again, with good positioning it's not really an issue during this fight) it would have to be positioned in different ways. Increasing the FOV is not the solution. Instead, it needs to be further away for bigger enemies, and move upwards, when squished between the player and the wall. I'm not being overly protective of the game here. The camera is an issue in many fights. Elden Beast, Fire Giant, really big enemies in general just dont work when the camera is so close to them. Turning the FOV to abysmal levels doesnt fix that. It works around the issue with the drawback of looking really stupid. It just replaces the issue with a different issue. The positioning comment is not targeted to your gameplay. You did really well in the fight and you seem to get the whole being aware of your placement in the arena thing. Good fight!

Miyazaki could make a boss with the shittiest camera of all time, but fanboys will always find an excuse to defend bad design and spam git gud
@taidaka7 күн бұрын
@zeze_5678 Have you even read the comment? I even criticised the camera myself, and I think it is one of modern Fromsoft's biggest flaws. I named examples where the camera actually sucks. I even admitted that the camera CAN at times freak out even in this fight. All I said is that A: this fight is a bad example compared to other fights, because the camera only sucks in certain situations that should be avoided anyway, unlike how it operates in fights like Fire Giant, where it is fundamentally bad. and also that B: this mod it not a proper solution as it only replaces the issue with a different one instead of fixing the problem like the title states. Fixing would require a complete reprogramming of the movement, where distance and height are adjusted dynamically based on size of the enemy how close the player is to a wall. I love how slightly disagreeing with any sort of criticism and an offered solution will make you a fanboy, despite criticizing aspects off your own. As I've stated earlier. Yes the camera is a problem at times, and it needs to be fixed. But it is less so a problem in this fight, and the "fix" showed in the video isn't really a fix.

@HeinzBeanz20028 күн бұрын
I feel like this is a tad unnecessary since the camera problems is less to do with the boss itself and more of a positioning failure in the player’s part. If you play correctly (never let yourself get pinned into a wall and keep good distance between you and its head), it becomes much less of an issue.
@ilyafilipo7 күн бұрын
Not exactly. First, if the boss is huge and close to you it becomes hard to see what his upper/left/right parts do even if you aren't near an obstacle. Second, being in the corner should mean that I can't move as freely, not that I can't see what's going on
@Mr.Starlight_gaming7 күн бұрын
I will glaze from for a living but this is just insane.
@HeinzBeanz20027 күн бұрын
@@ilyafilipo again, both are very preventable. If you don’t want your camera freaking out when you’re in a corner then just be aware of where you are in the arena relative to where the boss currently is. Secondly, treat the boss like its bayle and midir and only go for head shots, you’ll be right in front of them instead of awkwardly hugging the side which is where you’ll most likely have your camera freaking out. There is also just not locking on during certain moments or attack depending on your positioning. Death birds is another boss i recommend fighting locked off because of how awkward it gets when below their head, same thing applies to Dancing Lion whenever you’re close to a wall or are too close for comfort during their spinny moves. A janky camera doesn’t mean you can’t do anything about it, i personally like having to think about this while fighting, it adds another layer of complexity to learning the fight that I already like a lot.
