While I definitely agree Fudgemuppet has better quality of videos, I don’t think they should switch right away. Cause Fudge handles topics in a very heavy handed way which would confuse the two and leave them wanting. Fudge assumes you have moderate amount of experience in elder scrolls already, they don’t introduce the series for newcomers just jumping in. That’s why I believe they should stick with Shoddycast and finish this first as at least they’ll have the bare minimum of basic understanding of the universe at large as that’s what this series is about and for. Of course you are free to disagree, but I don’t recommend them going to Fudgemuppet and expecting them to understand the very fine details and nuances of the topics handled by them on the first go.

so... you decieded to give this one shot as well I take ALL the credit 😀 Also the reason why there is different voice is that elder Scrolls Series is older, narrated by the autor of the channel. While for the newer Falout series, they managed to contract professional voiceactor and they also utilized the experience from Elder Scroll Series...so yeah it is less professional, but still one of the best lore hubs for Elder Scrolls

So turns out, this video came out a whole year before the Storyteller series. In fact the whole first season of this series was published before the Storyteller series even began. This also seems to be the first of them doing any kind of lore telling work. Before then most of their videos were on World of Warcraft and weekly videos about Elder Scrolls Online in the lead up to it's release. It's interesting seeing the elements of this video that would be kept for the Storyteller series such as the intro. I personally haven't watched the Elder Scrolls Lore series so it will be interesting to see if they pick up on quality by Season 2. Edit: BTW the first season of this series is 18 episodes long.

This series was awesome and so popular that they decided to do the Fallout series. I remember waiting week after week for each new episode and was very excited when they announced the Fallout Lore Series. In fact, while I've always been a fan of lore, this series got me into watching KZbin lore series as a whole.

Both the Fallout and Elder scrolls series have amazing lore but it's easier to connect to fallout as its more closer to reality than fantasy. With the Elder scrolls series in general its best to play and understand than just to watch and listen as when you interact with the Elder scrolls world you can read the many books, notes and various other text throughout the world to better understand it's inhabits, cultures and ideas.

I agree as an intro this is way too confusing but keep in mind they were still creating the format making this. I am quite sure the voice changes and they get more theatrical like they do with Fallout if you give them time. It was their experience with this series that helped them polish the fallout one before it came out.

Love that you guys are tackling the Elder Scrolls now too along with Fallout Storyteller. In my personal opinion, you should continue with this series before moving on to other creators covering the same topics. Cause from my experience, channels like EpicNate, Fudgemuppet, MrRhexx, Camelworks and others all make videos assuming the viewers have some knowledge of the games lore themselves beforehand as they go really heavy in detail and descriptions. For newcomers the information will go over your heads as the references will only make sense for players with knowledge of the games. Whilst this series by Shoddycast is very old and outdated in some cases, I do believe it’s the best for newcomers who are just getting into the series for the first time as aside from the prologue and a few early instalments, it really breaks down the core narratives and tells it in a storybook setting as the series develops. And you will get those feelings of bedtime story vibes in the latter half of the playlist. So I recommend you continuing with this series and sticking through the rocky beginning of it. It’ll get better as it goes on. Though keep in mind this series was made two years before work on the Fallout Storyteller series was made, so it’s rough around the edges and has that classic KZbin feel. Hopefully it’s not too much of a distraction. On a person note, I listen to this as background noise that helps me do my paperwork or when I’m going to bed. It’s very therapeutic and incites imagery of fantasy in my mind.

The difference between Fallout lore and Elder scrolls lore is that elder scrolls is told more like mythology and fallout is more like real history. In the fallout series there are very clear answers to certain questions. "Why did vault-tec make vaults?" "Because a secret sect of the government wanted to experiment on people." While Elder scroll is a little less clear. No one knows why Lorkhan even wanted to make Nirn or what really happened to yokuda, or where the dwemer went, all we have is guesses.

elder scrolls lore is definitely not an easy thing to understand. but it is one of the most intriguing lore imo, because like, its a whole different universe with its own "big bang" (i mean world creation thingy) and its own gods and its own heaven/hell/afterlife. its a totally new thing. well... not entirely new because the humans still look the same, grass still green, trees still look like trees, etc. but you know what i mean lol. like other commenters have said, i also recommend Fudgemuppet and theEpicNates.

4:39 Aedra and Daedra are kind of more like titles given by the mortals of Nirn(Tamriel more specifically), they are really just descriptors Aedra meaning our ancestors(those that helped in creation) and Daedra meaning not our ancestors(those that didn't help). Ironically the titles are wrong at least in the case of two Daedra, Meridia and Malacath both played parts in creation but became Daedra through other means.

its a bit more difficult to describe the lore of The Elder Scrolls than Fallout because unlike Fallout, The Elder Scrolls has _an entire world_ they need to describe to you, at least on a surface level, before they can even begin. all of this is just setting the stage - and yeah, its a lot - but without this very necessary introduction, the lore that follows would make even less sense.

I think there is a problem comparing Fallout which is working on a world that we all know and Elder Scrolls which is a complete fictional world. The reason that there is so much more info to learn at the start is that you actually don't know the basics of this world. Same with the Warcraft universe and other stuff. That said there is only so much space in brains and i reached the lore cap for fantasy world some time ago and have a hard time getting into new stuff anyway.

Yeah they weren't joking about elder scrolls having a really rich, very deep lore. Remember playing through Skyrim and then later on Oblivion going "this is a neat world, let me check out more." And then actually started diving into the lore with this KZbin series and it's like "Holy crap I apparently know almost nothing about this lore despite putting a combined total of over 500 hours in both the fourth and fifth installment the game." And which is like 1000 hours nowadays... So yeah the prologue was just pure setup!

Hard to say after 1 episode. Fallout has the advantage of being set in a familiar setting. It's a very different earth but it's still earth. They don't have to set up the world itself. Just the events that take place in it. I think this has the potential for being a good series for beginners. If there is an aspect of the series. You want to do a deeper dive into. Then look to a channel like fudgemuppet. As a lover of the lore. Their stuff is great but they're not who I would pick to introduce someone to it. I've watched the fallout series in its entirety and hope you do as well. While remaining informative. It begins to add more humor as it progresses. Storyteller is.....very familiar with the topics.

I don't think this is a particularly good way to introduce a complex setting. He mentions loads of things by name but doesn't really explain any of them at all. I would have just started by explaining the creation of Mundus and about the Aedra and Daedra. Start from the beginning, end on Nirn's creation and mention the realms of Oblivion. Maybe this was just supposed to serve as a teaser for future episodes, but it seems a little pointless to do because people who don't know any of the lore are just having words and concepts thrown at them with very little context.

I know that I might be late, but I still gonna say it. Elder Scrolls series did the thing that none of other RPGs did: devs managed to put soul in their games. I've done two full playthroughs of Witcher 3 by now, and I still can't say that I enjoyed this game more than this laggy mess with crappy textures named Skyrim. Or, well, any other TES game. And I hope that TES 6 won't lose its soul.
