loool all the 8 year old kids saying "this isn't a speedrun it's cheating" any% speedruns of ALL games REQUIRE you to use glitches for good times. It's beating the game *as fast as possible* by *any* means. If you want to see glitch-less speedruns, those exist as well. But you're going to be watching that shit for up to 7 hours or more, depending on what game it is.
@ItsAnH9 жыл бұрын
Using glitches isn't cheating though. It's part of the game's design, usually overlooked by developers if they don't find them.

For those bitching about the audio, use what knowledge you have. It's been a long series, they have had to probably switch equipment to prevent overheating, they can't afford to tune the equipment for every single change, and the levels have boundaries since they are in close proximity of each other (feedback issues) and they have to stream all of this. Even if they don't swap out the equipment, that explains the quality; every mic and capture card overheats and reduces quality at some point.
@QuickQuips10 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's pretty tough to get vocals at a consistent level between multiple people. And I don't think they have compressors or a dedicated engineer to set stuff up, and it's better to have lower sound than distorted audio.

Yes becase they are fucking massive games with thousands of line of code, of course there are going to be kinks in the system. They should stop the clock when the game crashes. That's not the speed-runner's fault.
@feastlopol5210 жыл бұрын
Well Wymorn said "it's not a skyrim speed run unless the game crashes on you atleast once." So it was expected and i guess that all of the people in speed running community for skyrim leave any crashes in the game since they have to use glitches frequently. Pro's and Con's for glitching the game.
@sproy110 жыл бұрын
Feast Lopol Well then why did they stop the clock when the fire alarm went off during Tri-Hex's Yoshi's Island speed run? They clearly have a policy of stopping the clock when something happens outside the speedrunner's control!
@feastlopol5210 жыл бұрын
dstebbin That was out of the speed runner's control. During this speed run the players are doing glitches and getting to places they're not suppose to be in way earlier then they should. That comes with the risk of breaking the game and potently ruining their speed run. These glitches are caused by the speedrunner and they know that at any moment it could crash. And I know that the 5-10 seconds it takes to get back to the game is a heavy price for a speed runner. To sum it up, the glitches are being done by the speed runner and that means the crashing will be their fault so they will have to take the responsibility of taking those extra seconds. Even if a glitch happens unintentionally the runner still has to take control.
@sproy110 жыл бұрын
Feast Lopol Skyrim crashes a shitload WITHOUT glitches! How do we know these crashes are actually caused by glitches?
@feastlopol5210 жыл бұрын
dstebbin When Wymorn was in the Raggon Flaggon (I think that's what the place was called) it crashed two times and this was following the glitch through the wall. So we can assume that walking on the left side of the place he was in caused the game to crash. I know that Skyrim crashes alot (ALOT) and honestly Skyrim's not one of the best games to speed run because of that. It's like trying to sppedrun a game that's not had a play tester push up against every wall. Now I'm done replying these paragraphs i've been typing take a good 5-10 minutes to type

For all guys who are saying, that using glitches in speedruns is cheating and easier than a normal run... Speedrunners have to practice a damn fucking lot to get a glitch to work. It can kill a run if you don´t get it the first time or do it one time wrong! Such Runners have more Skill than everyone else who play the game normally, because the need to learn such tricks for hours, days, weeks and months to get them fast & safe! Glitches are mistakes in the game, to use them is no shame, cheats are wrong, you say the game to do something, which was non intenden by the developers & the game itself.

Someone please explain how people can request 'skill' instead of glitches? A lot of these glitches take skill, not just to perform but also to set up at speed.
@jayzakaz84289 жыл бұрын
Well... that was needlessly offensive. Someone needs a sandwich. Seriously, practice makes perfect isn't a defense about glitches being skillful. They practice the glitches, yes, but they're still skilled at it. Regardless of age, skill is dictated by how well they can do something. The glitch the game easily and quickly, which is a skill. Your main form of attack is the idea that practice is all you need to be good at glitching. You know what else needs practice? Playing games. Very rarely can you finish a game all the way through without needing to practice or get the hang of something. Also, find me a chimp who can blacksmith AND drive a rally car, and I might see your side of the argument.
@usern4metak3ns9 жыл бұрын
Jay Zakaz sandwich sounds good, but thats not the point here. skill = practice, practice = skill anyone can practice something enough to master it, a child can master a piano or violin(those are very true). edit: what you are referring to when saying "skill is dictated by how well they can do something." is actually inherent talent, which only some people have, everyone can be skilled at something, but only truly talented people can do something WAY better than others who are only skilled at something. talented people are normally the only people that can innovate in the thing they are talented at, skilled people can only just do certain things in that same profession, they normally cannot innovate in the selected field. i dont know if anyone has tried to train a chimp to drive rally cars and blacksmith, but it is possible. point being, glitching a game is easy after enough practice and knowing how to do the glitch, i know this because i have gamed with glitchers that teach noobs how to bunny-hop and change cfg files so they can see through walls. glitchers are a cancer in gaming, they never stop using glitches like drug addiction and it eventually leads to a game's death if it has multiplayer, because they ruin it with over-saturation of glitching and hacking.
@jayzakaz84289 жыл бұрын
Your argument is about how glitches aren't skilled, is that correct? Skill develops from practice, so practicing glitches makes you skillful. I'm not arguing that glitches can break games, that's WHY I can see it as a skillful thing to do, to be able to constantly plan ahead, manipulate RNG, work out the fastest route, it's all incredible difficult to do, even with practice. Yes, some people use glitches to get an unfair advantage, but Speedrunners, people who usually want to finish a game as fast as possible, I doubt they'd use these skills to evil ends. Regardless, the original argument is that Glitching a game precisely and quickly as they do, as well as working out routes, finding new paths and sometimes having to remember things to the slightest detail, is skillful. You can't demand they show skill by playing the game normally, because it undermines who they are. They are Runners. They run games, they don't play games. Glitches are shortcuts in the great marathon. You might see it as cheating, or unfair, but I see it as people who've studied the route, and found a gap in some trees. Skill comes in many different forms, but what I can gather from your comments is that you think skill only comes from people practicing. Glitching a game is easy when you know how, but that rule applies to everything. Playing a piano is easy when you know how, playing a violin is easy when you know how. Those are skills, and so is running games.

Jay Zakaz read you whole post and basically you are right about being skillful and practicing for perfection or mastery. however that isnt my argument, my argument is essentially that glitchers and abuse of glitches does not require someone with skill, skill can make glitching easier, but lets be honest here, this glitch twits arent doing anything that cant be done by a regular 12 year-old idiot CoD player with enough practice and telling him or her about the glitches. i saw nothing in that entire video that showed anything that was exemplary or extraordinary. all i saw was some dipshit glitcher who has probably used those glitches over 1000 times in order to get it down. he probably didn't even discover many if any of those glitches, someone else most likely TOLD him how to do them and where. basically i saw a trained chimp repeat something he was taught how to do many times. no innovation, no creativity, just repetition ad nauseam.

K13Good Speed running term, oftentimes various parts of the game will be broken into parts. Like, lets say when you get to Esbern that denotes a certain point in the game, so a player will keep a record of how long it took to get to that point. Splits help a person to see if they are losing or gaining time, and if they did certain sections better/worse than their current best.

Morrowind's and Oblivion's stability are way over Skyrim's. Not for the glitches and bugs, but for the ability to avoid crashes both with and without mods.

SangiNET Every game engine can be fine tuned to accomodate open world games filled with NPC and object interactions. The first one that comes to my mind is the cryengine. Another one might be frostbite, unreal, aurora and the cheap alternative, unity. Gamebryo specializes in that it can easily import 3rd party engines to complete a game's mechanics: Facegen (faces and facial animation), havok (physics) and speedtree (foliage) along with any custom made A.I. engine can produce a nice, but lacking result compared to other engines that include all these things in one package.

***** I'm still playing DaggerFall, Morrowind and Oblivion. Why should I stop playing an open-ended game that can be modded and add a thousand more possibilities to play it further? Although I could hardly reach my 7800 hours on DaggerFall with any recent TES game and both Morrowind and Oblivion are nearly approaching the end for me. Man, those were the games were the phrase "value for money" was meant literally.

if were in topic, the most hilarious were Morrowind and Ravenloft 2 speedruns, both of which allowed literally get from start to an end instantly because of 1 bug ;P and in both cases it was the same problem of a obstacle which was supposed to kill but it was leaving a window allowing to survive.

I never understood speedrunning a game like Skyrim. The point is to take your time and experience everything. "finishing" the main story really fast seems like it would be hardly rewarding. It's not like the game is challenging in anyway it's all about the experience.
@hismanhim10 жыл бұрын
I understand your feeling but what he did is to change the Role-play-game experience into a Puzzle game experience and I admire that.

Im not debating it's a speedrun and sure finding all these tricks is something I could never do but I just don't see the fascination with a game like this to do a speedrun.

Heath Anderson Its just a challange. How fast could a person complete a game and how many ways could they move forward in ways the developers didn't intend.

Skyrim is a game to take your time with. But you understand what AGDQ conventions are?
@mike99010 жыл бұрын
I do my point is I just don't understand why Skyrim became a game that is speedrun besides the fact that you "can"
@nervatraianus9 жыл бұрын
By the way guys, speedruns exist in various categories depending on what do you do during the run. AGDQ, SGDQ aut similia always are %any (any % of completence) and exploiting glitches. There DOES exist a whole lot of categories with no glitches exploited during the whole run whatsoever, and even at 100% completence AND no glitch exploiting (the longest, by far). So don't get mad, get informed! :D (not a compliance, just pointing it out!)

Again, to the people saying they should stop the time if a glitch causes them to crash, well no they should not. Yes, it's a speed run which they can go about in two ways. Firstly, they can try a speed run without doing any glitches whatsoever and, if the game did crash, stop the clock. Secondly, they can try a speed run using glitches, however, solely because of their decision and risk to use the glitch - knowing full well it could crash at any moment - takes away their right to have the clock stopped. It's just a risk they take and if they don't want to do it, then they don't have to. But yes, that's also how you get the fastest times - by making these small risks.
