Elderberries from harvest to syrup

Thank you for sharing this! We have wild elderberry in our backyard. I never knew what to do with them before, but now I can actually utilize the berries instead of just letting the birds feast on them. Unfortunately I have to wait til next year though

I was watching my elderberry bush as it was full of berries...and it suddenly died. It was surrounded by other type bushes which were fine so I assume something ate the roots. 😢

Yes we often have to harvest a little early to keep the birds from getting them

If you don't have a pressure pot/cooker can you use a regular sauce pan? If yes how long do you cook them for?

Yes!! Simmer for 2 hours.

We are in zone 5b I think they grow in 5a as well.

Elderberries can grow all over the continent. Maybe slight difference varieties, but if you look it up, they grow worldwide & in Canada, all over the USA.
