I had adopted an elderly deaf and blind small dog. Had him for about a year and half before he passed. To wake him up I would softly blow on him. He was a sweet boy. That worked on another older dog I had adopted who was deaf as well. 😊

We have a rescue boy that was found taped to a pole in freezing conditions. He had been abused and neglected his whole life. It has taken over a year for my husband to be able to pet him without him ducking and flinching. I know we had no control over what was, but only what is to be from now on. However, it still breaks my heart that he endured who knows what for many years 💔 😭

Why he may turn over to stare at you is to assure himself your there since he is deaf but also for him to really believe someone is really there to love him & not abandon him. My Sammy, a rescue, would howl & make joyful sounds whenever we returned home from somewhere in the car. It was like he was relieved that we weren't dropping him off somewhere, never to come again! Also when I walked him, he would frequently turn to look at the house-like he was trying to keep it in his sights-not to forget where his new home was! I miss my sweet boy so much.😢

My family & relatives have always had dachshunds. They truly are characters! And are good with kids. Each one has their own personality! I find it so hard to think of this sweet boy on the street alone, scared, hungry, cold, sad & lonely for so long.😭I've had three doxies, and one was a rescue.
