I like the idea that he is just as kind and loving as the book says, but that the main reason he is so feared is that he just doesn’t understand people very well. He brings destruction but doesn’t realize that it’s to their enemies, not them. It also fits with the nature of fire to, after all, fire misused could burn down a city.

The person I've already watched dub some of this actually didn't do most of this part, so seeing it is really interesting. The worldbuilding for this particular AU is really interesting. I have to wonder what the bird at 16:59 is. The 682 look-alike is obviously Susie (as LynxGriffin tends to do), the deer thing is Noelle, and the cat is probably Seam. I think the bird might be Swatch, but I guess we'll have to see. I'm definitely looking forward to when they reach the Light World, and everything inevitably goes to crap.
