I haven't set it up yet but I really appreciate your explanation, I have saved this on my Favorite list so that I can refer to it again. The most daunting task for me will be camera placement making sure that the unit is reachable. Many thanks, will follow this up after the install.

I always get wired systems, if you lose power or the internet goes down, your system will be of no use. If you get a deep cycle battery and a inverter, your system can be active even if the electricity goes down. If you need longer cable you can get 4x 100 feet for $25 also on Ebay!

Looks like an awesome system. When I get mine, I'll have to play around with Google Drive because my #1 paranoia is burglars stealing the DVR. Would be nice to loop record on a cloud platform; especially without paying monthly for it.

Hi All our DVRs are like stand alone computers, so you SHOULD NOT directly connect them to your computer. Meanwhile, you could use VGA/HDMI/BNC cable to hook up a monitor to ELEC DVR for live view. Such monitor could be LCD, TV Set, PC Monitor. A TV set should be fine, although a monitor is still preferable. By the way, you can hook ELEC DVR up to a computer via E-cloud for a remote view. Be informed this can only be done from a computer running Microsoft Windows.

It depends on which Swann cameras you're buying. There are a LOT of brands out there selling very similar products and they all have a bunch of different configurations. Swann has more options but they can be triple the price. It depends on how much you're looking to pay.

Hi there. Can anyone pls tell me whats the difference between cam01 and d05 shown on my TV after I connect my dvr to the TV. Most importantly for me is that it recognises my first 4 cameras but not 5th to 8th. Any advice would be appreciated Thank you

It's possible that it's being blocked by your router. Are your ports open?

Hi, you may need a router/DVR connected with your router by Network cable if you want to view live video on App

Hi, please note ELEC dvr doesn't need a moderm. The DVR system can be used just fine without internet connection. Hi, great review but you don't really look into the security side of things! How do I know that my ELEC system won't get hacked and how secure is it?

Hi It's a common thing for all security products. You can view and control the system in home and don't need to connect with network if you worry about secure. If you didn't purchase the kit with a hard drive, your DVR will still run just fine, although you won’t be able to record and playback.

For a hard drive that should be fully compatible with your DVR, here are the specifications you should be looking at: -Connection interface: SATA 3 (SATA3 6Gb/s) -Format: 3.5 inches (WD Purple/Seagate SkyHawk Surveillance HDD for Mira, Sirius Series DVR), 2.5 inch Surveillance HDD for Halley Kit Black Cameras. -You could also try looking up these hard drive model numbers: For Mira, Sirius Series Kit, recommend 3.5" ST1000VX005(1TB), WD20PURX (2TB). For Halley Series Kit, recommend 2.5" WD5000BUDT (500GB), HTS541010A9E680 (1TB).

Elec camera system is fine, but it DOES NOT RECORD!!!!! you can't get on the e-cloud account dvr sucks so please don't recommend this system e-cloud digital video recorder.
