Thank you so much. I've used elecampane for lung issues. And I used to put a drop of tincture in my dog's water when she had a cough. It helped her a lot. But I didn't know it also helped with digestion linked with grief. Looking forward to making the recipe. Just what I need!❤🌿

Taste buds are so funny. I actually like the earthy, almost coffee like flavor if elecampane. When I make a root decoction, I add several thin slices of ginger root and love this hearty tea.

Love her information about treating grief, specifics about energetics and details its other than lung uses. I also love the book cards. I'm glad to find out how valuable it is for digestion and to learn that grief might go to digestion. I knew about the lung connection taught in Chinese medicine but not digestion. Thanks.

I have been searching for methods to properly clean roots. When I hear an herbalist talk about roots, I feel discouraged because though I scrub and scrub, they never come quite clean, particularly valerian. I asked Rose Mountain Herbs and they said they hire a separate company to clean them, but did not describe the process. Do you know the process? I've thought perhaps to buy an ultrasonic machine, like they use for jewelry. How do you clean your elecampane and other roots? Thanks for another wonderful video, so informative. I wish Henriette had talked more about the elf queen's dance, but I think what she means is that the herb is so grounding in that it keeps your mind from wandering off into dark places. Cheers!

I put my roots in a large bowl of water and swish them around a bunch. I do this in several batches of water. I haven't needed to do anything beyond that. You don't want to scrub roots too hard because you often want the thin layer that surrounds the roots.

What you are saying suggests that perhaps an ultrasonic machine would do the trick as well, if I decide that it's worth the price. I'm worried because my valerian has been sitting, dried, caked in dirt, for a month. I will try your technique and see if it's redeemable. Cheers for your resplendent and contagious attitude!

Rosalee, can you tell me how you make your tea with elecampane and rose hips? How much of each do you use and how long do you steep. I tried elecampane in my cold blend, but I just don’t like the bitterness. I’m trying to think of a way to mask the bitterness. Thank you.

I always like to learn from old experienced herbalists. Already made a batch of elecampane and hibiscus cough mixture. I substituted raw honey for the sugar. I couldn't find any indication as to how long that syrup keeps? In or out of the fridge? I would appreciate your input!

Glad you enjoyed this! How long a syrup keeps depends on the amount of honey or sugar used. If you have one cup of herbal tea and you add 1 cup of honey/sugar it will last for a very long time, especially refrigerated. The less honey/sugar you add the shorter the shelf life. You can also freeze syrups to keep them longer. I don't love my syrups super sweet at a 1:1 ratio so I make them as needed, use less honey, and then make it in small batches that I use up quickly.
