Elecraft KX3 QRP Pileup on SOTA Summit

Working a pileup from Black Mountain SOTA summit (GW/SW-041) on my Elecraft KX3 using low power. This captures the start of the pile up on 40m, after this I moved to 20m and the pile up was even more intense. Band conditions were obviously good and I finished up with 67 QSOs in 1.5 hours of very enjoyable operating from this Welsh summit in the Brecon Beacons.

What is that antenna cable it looks like a wire??? Also what model battery?

Really thin RG-174, it's much lighter than RG58 and doesn't catch the wind so much. It's fine for HF QRP operation but it certainly gets very warm when you put anything above 50W up it! The battery is a LiFePro4 4200mAh battery, it works very well and strikes the right balance between capacity and weight!

+MiniBelnor It's 5 litres and I can fit the Elecraft KX3 or Yaesu 817 in there comfortably, with space left over. It's a great insurance policy for keeping your rig dry while walking in the rain!
