I'm not American, but went through high school and college in th US. From a foreigner stand point I can promise you that Obama returned a , too long forgotten, good image of the USA to the whole world. That image that all Americans deserve to have when in front of the world.

No matter what her husband has or hasn't done, no matter what a person thinks of Barack Obama, what Barack Obama has done, what Barack Obama wants to do, or what Barack Obama believes, no matter if you disagree with what she says; no one can say that Michelle didn't eloquently, beautifully express what she wanted to say.

I haven't heard Michelle Obama speak much, but she is an impressive speaker. She conveys very well what her husband stands for, and what his vision is. She is clearly real, so intelligent and well spoken but not overly formal or cold. Just judging on their choice of a wife alone, Obama hands down. She is very much a Diana in her ability to connect, the people's First Lady. More inner strength shines through than Diana had, but so personable and relatable.

I think when Michelle said "These issues aren't political, they're personal," I think she meant "they're political BECAUSE they're personal". These are inseparable realms in lives of as much integrity as can possibly be cultivated in this world.

But Reagan didn't reduce the growth in government spending. He massively increased government spending, in both real dollar terms and as a portion of the total national debt. He didn't increase spending as a % of GDP, but if you're looking at that metric, neither has Obama.

Wow. What a powerful speech! I don't understand why people who lost their jobs over the past 4 years blame Obama. And, I and my husband are some of the people who lost our jobs. I even had to close my 25 yr old company that did work nation-wide and had to file bankruptcy because I had personally guaranteed the $3 million+ debt to the bank. I lost all my money & investments that I had saved over the 30 yrs of working very hard. And I'm an accountant as well. I had to let my employees go knowi

I hope at the end of the day, true dignity and respect shall be given back to all the people not only in america but all the people of the world. Martin L. King said "charity is not just flipping a coin to the beggars and the poor, true charity is about removing the strictures and systems that created them in the first place. One cannot gain true greatness and happinesd at the expense of others. Great speech from the first lady. I pray and hope that actions, real actions will be followed.
