I've been a blood donor for about a year and it's great! I'm not really great with needles but as long as I look away when the blood is being taken, I'm fine. And the nurses sometimes see that I'm nervous and have a chat with me :) the giving blood part only takes about 5 - 10 minutes, and you get snacks and a sticker at the end! Also, my favourite part, you later get told which hospital your blood will be used at! Giving blood is such a good thing, so encouraging more people to do so is important! Thanks Hannah

I really liked this video. I love how chill and relaxed this style is, it just feels likeI'm hanging out with a friend or something. Also I love how you keep your makeup so minimal even when you're going out, makes me feel better about not wearing much makeup ever. On the topic of the GE, I'd say this is the most informed I've ever been on UK politics (I'm from Ireland) and it's so interesting. I'm also hopeful, but preparing for the worst. As for giving blood, to whoever sees this, *please* donate. It matters so much, you're literally saving lives.

As a Northern Irish citizen I find it almost comical how shocked the rest of the uk is about the DUP😂 I am 19 and the DUP have been the largest party in our government for as long as I've been alive. So we've been dealing with this for almost 20 years and before they went into a deal with the conservatives no one else in the uk cared less about the DUPs presence in politics.

It is so refreshing to hear a KZbinr encourage blood donation! Not many people promote it, and it such an important and easy thing to do. And quick! Not scary at all, NHS nurses are incredibly caring and welcoming, and on the plus side you get sweets when you're done 😋 I have rediscovered a love for Penguins and Club Orange 🍫 Donating blood fills you with a great sense of pride for helping out the community, and a sense of belonging to the community. I'm really glad you're so passionate about giving blood. I just went about a month ago for the first time, and I was really surprised how few of the people I know wanted to take part. I was a bit scared to be honest, but it was surprisingly pain-free. Everyone was very professional and kind, and I highly encourage anyone who is able to donate to do it, wherever you are. It doesn't take long, it doesn't cost anything, and it can save someone's life. Lots of love from Hungary :)

Giving blood is honestly one of the coolest things I'm regularly doing in my life right now :) The feeling it gives you knowing you're helping and potentially saving people is amazing. We went to give blood after the bombings in Brussels as well, and it's such an amazing feeling that you can help at least in some way! I'm glad you touched on the entitlement to information a lot of people have in regards to youtubers/social media personalities. It's pretty nauseating how much people will try to justify being intrusive just because youtubers choose to share some of their lives publically. Even more nauseating still when you see that many of these entitled people are full grown adults who know fully well that the kind of behavior they exhibit online would not fly in their face to face relationships in any way. Curiosity is natural, but it doesn't mean we have to act on it/pry when the person in question is clearly not comfortable/does not want to share this information. In any case, it's good to see you seem to be doing well. : ) You are definitely a positive face to see pop up in my subscriptions feed. xx

Blood donation is super easy! I'm not from England but I imagine it's pretty similar. So long as you drink lots of water and eat beforehand (protip, make sure to have something with iron in it before you go, if your iron is too low they will turn you away) and eat or drink juice after, it only takes about a half hour. I also suggest looking away and telling them not to tell you when they are putting the needle in, you are less likely to tense up and you barely feel it. I've donated every time I could since I became the right age for it (about 4 years ago) and it's super easy. My aunt needed 16 bags over the course of her liver transplant and whole blood only lasts on the shelf for 120 days! After that they have to throw it out. In America (I dont know about elsewhere) babies can only get blood from people under 21 because after 21 there is too much of something in the blood that babies can't have. Also there is such thing as a direct donation, so if you know someone who needs blood you can ask that it be a direct donation, and even if you aren't a blood type match they get a credit for a bag of their type! In America a single bag of blood costs the family 50 dollars, and that really adds up (remember my aunt needed 16, that's 800 dollars) So a direct donation really helps too!

72% is v high for youth turnout: yougov (a polling site) suggests otherwise. It says that 18 - 19 yr olds had 57% turnout and 20 - 24 yr olds had 59% turnout. That's better than usual, but still not excellent.
@10pittgeorge7 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth Barnard wait... how does that add up to 72% ?
@elizabethbarnard51377 жыл бұрын
George Pitt it doesn't - that's the point. Because they're separate numbers for different age ranges, they (roughly) need to be averaged. Ie youth turnout was about 58%
@10pittgeorge7 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth Barnard But are the numbers suggested by YouGOV the actual official numbers? I don't know a whole lot about politics and generally avoid it, but from what I know, YouGOV is never that accurate?
@elizabethbarnard51377 жыл бұрын
George Pitt yougov hasn't been excellent at pre election polling but from what I know, there aren't any problems with post election data collection. Though ofc this can never be fully accurate.
@jas88cam7 жыл бұрын
George Pitt There are no official numbers by age, because nobody knows! (Deliberately so.) They know precisely how many people voted in each place, they know whether or not I voted (to stop me voting twice) - but that's private, otherwise you could for example be bribed or blackmailed into not voting. So, we know there were 12,345 votes for candidate X - how many of those voters were under 30? Nobody knows, except by doing polls or breaking the law! Thanks by the way Hannah: I feel better about knowing nothing at all about Northern Ireland politics when a bright history graduate doesn't know it either :) The DUP seem a bit scary, but I don't think they'll drag Britain back, they're more interested in ... whatever it is they do in NI. Now I'll go and look into donating blood for the first time. I've never had a transfusion, but my mum did once (so can't give blood herself) - so by posting about this, you've probably brought in more blood than if you didn't have UC!

I gave blood about 2 weeks ago for my 18th birthday. It definitely was an experience. My iron was great which surprised the chick who set it all up for me. The only issue I had was that she went through my vein and my arm started filling up with blood a bit but it was okay! I did my other arm and it all worked out great. I passed out on the way home a bit afterwards but it was great. I have a good bruise still, it was really worth it though. A pint of blood can save 3 people, it's a wonderful thing. I recommend it.
