On tonight's elections debate, political parties debate about the high rate of crime in the country. The debate was held at Langa Community hall in the Western Cape.
ANC was represented by Bheki Cele, PA by Cheslyn Steenberg, DA by Ian Cameron, EFF by Nazier Paulsen, Good Party was represented by Brett Herron and Al Jama-ah by Advocate Shameemah Salie.

People keep talking about wanting policing resources in their area... do they pay tax? Do thy pay rates and levies to the municipality? All the informal settlements that are just a problem, do they contribute ANYTHING at all to the taxbase that pays for police? No. Then they must shut up.

@veronicakarstel9126 You sound delusional. Townships are big contributers to South Africas economy. The police department is not funded based on how much property levies and taxes you pay. Read the budget speech. Since crime is destroying our economy and these communities are sources of some criminals, members of these communities feel that more policing will mitigate some of the extreme forms of criminality in their area. Your comment indicates to me you do not recognise these people in townships as human beings worthy of basic rights. You talk about money when the conversation is about human lives and longterm stability. There is no law prohibiting the free movement of any South Africa to greener pastures. Western Cape is not an independent state nor will it ever become one - more and more black people will migrate there until you can't tell who is black and who is not, that will help you from discriminating people based on the colour of their skin.

Political parties should campaign until the elections. After elections whoever is in power should stop politics and start to service the people. They can only win crime if they put their ideas and resources together and not focusing on individual political parties of who is the winner.
