It makes me happy to see people start this hobby and refuse to give up when they discover it's difficult. It took me much longer than 7 hours to see success riding EUCs, and that's after putting 4000 miles on a Onewheel. I stuck with it, and I'm so glad I did. I never rode the V11, but the V12HT and V13 are amazing!! I'll keep this short by NOT going on and on about how cool the Shermans are. 😁

Ive got my first euc in september last year (2022) and coming from scooters , this thing is a process but a extremely fullfiling one , I took a whole day to learn it and the next day I was about to go straight on a bicycle path and WOW the pure glee . Such a joy . I don't think ill come back to E-scooters anymore lol

Coming from scooters too. Just learned how to ride. Will always be a place in my stable for escooters too even though I'm into eucs-have two now. At first was hesitant to try but then I had this idea in my head that if I'm already into pevs I should at least try an euc and not treat eucs like many non pev riders treat pevs

1st day Beginner tip: Instead of a wall or railings, spend your first day with a pole, like a post for basketball hoop. Stand on pedals and circle in both directions for 30 minutes total (switch directions often). This helps learning balance and turning without unnecessary stress. Circle the post until you can do it without touching… that’s 90% of learning the basics… next, learn to step on/off, then you’re on your way.🎉 ❤

Its amazing how many facets there are to learning to ride these things. No other video mentions not to hold your breath. This one doesnt mention to turn the wheel in the direction youre falling when you start losing your balance and begin to wiggle to one side but the wheel wants to keep going straight similar to when theyre holding hands.

I was 66 when I learned to ride mine. I had good results using ski/hiking poles to maintain early control. As my confidence built up, I just used the poles less and less. I would also suggest getting the neoprene cover if available to shield the wheel from damage during the learning period.

From what I’ve seen with other EUC channels (Wrong Way being the best) making some pads to help lock you into the wheel will greatly improve your control of acceleration and braking.

Nice job. It’s definitely the best PEV once you get it. I started on a V8S I got a good deal on, and upgraded to an EXN I got a good deal on. I ride my ebike if my son wants to go on the jump seat, but if I have a choice, it will always be an EUC and I doubt I’ll ever buy anything else going forward. I’m glad I have choices in wheels, I love the V8S for short shopping runs or going to the train station because it’s so light, and the EXN if I really want to let loose and go fast and further. So portable and can just come inside with you. The V11 is a really good all rounder. I think about the only knock on it for learning is the high pedals and relatively high weight, but once you learn it it can be a solid wheel for a long time. You definitely outgrow the V8S pretty quickly if it is your only wheel and you’re looking for the fun factor. It’s a great wheel for getting stuff done though.

One thing I learn about riding an EUC in the beginning is - it is all mental. All our lives we have been told anything less than 2 wheels is hard. Even 2 wheels with a motor is dangerous...So it automatically transfer to the EUC. Whatever limitations I could not do on a EUC was because I told myself and believed I could not do it and/or it was scary. The more I rode/practiced and got comfortable, the things thought I couldn't do, I do without thinking about it. Also every vehicle from bikes, scooter, cars, motorcycles, etc. we all use our hands in some form or fashion. So when new riders ride a EUC for the first time they constantly waving/swinging their arms because they don't know what to do with them. And that makes them lose balance. As they figure out their arms don't play a factor they calm down and keep their arms at their side and they ride much better and smoother. Just look at yourself and everyone learning to ride, and look at those with more experience riding and you will see what I mean

I got my first EUC, a V8F, August 2021, when I was only 69 years old. As mentioned in the video, at sufficient speed an EUC will become self-stable. I watched how to ride and other EUC videos. I did the usual beginner stuff, rock back and forth, moving along a wall. I did some slow speed (3 to 5 mph) arm flailing for balance and direction, good enough for laps around a tennis court, but I probably should have saved the slow speed stuff for later. I moved to a long outdoor parking lot, where I found my V8F became stable at 6 to 8 mph if riding in a straight line, and I no longer had to make balance corrections and lowered my arms. I then learned normal tilt steering (inner foot down, outer foot up). Took about an hour of riding over two days to be able to ride in straight line and make large radius turns. Seems the average to learn basic riding for most is 1 to 3 hours. Becoming proficient at turning at various speeds and tighter turns will take longer, improving over time.

Great video. Welcome to EUC riding. The V11 was also my first EUC and I'd like to add a few things: 1) it comes with an instruction manual that helps you learn to ride 2) buy a V11 from an EUC dealer, not an online market like Amazon - because you will get warranty and parts and service support from a dealer 3) the V11 is really water resistant but always keep it upright when wet - don't lay it down 4) range for a 225 lbs person riding moderately fast with gear is about 40 miles 5) self repair is really easy - there are a lot of screws to turn but anyone with moderate mechanical inclination can change out parts or tire 6) always wear a helmet if you love your brain 7) more individualized configuration of the V11 is through a bluetooth phone app 8) the V11 is regarded as one of the best beginners wheels because its safe, easy to learn, very smooth to ride, and has enough power to grow into

I usually tell people the same, once learned its not any more dangerous than a normal bike. Most just assume that you need to constantly balance as if you where standing on a rope, but it's really not like this. Also, 16mph 😂 my cruise speed is 30mph(50kmh), when I have back wind 60kmh is normal. Of course I break to slower speeds for you bikers when passing, i know what it's like to bike everywhere and getting passed by reckless Mopeds.

It’s true though. How often do you fall off a bike in normal riding conditions? You might crash if you really push it off-roading, but cruising on pavement you aren’t likely to fall unless you don’t pay attention and hit a pothole or something, but that could get you on a bike, too.

@@lefotografion I don’t really think of low speed trick stuff as falling. That’s not really what the OP was thinking of, he’s not a BMX biker. I was talking about cruising at bike speeds. I’m equally worried about crashes on either, which is not much. I’d actually argue EUCs are better insofar as there is a much, much better safety culture. EUC riders doing 25mph+ are almost certainly in pretty good gear. Ebikers are almost certainly in a bike helmet, at most.

As someone who rides for transportation year round my best advice for getting better at it is to try to not balance with your arms only legs. I also tend to use one foot mainly for accelerating with most weight on ball of foot and second foot with more weight on heel to straighten it out and avoid wobbles. I started out going fairly quick because its easier to balance and progressed by trying to learn to go as slow as possible and get better at balancing. The higher speeds just come with mileage. Definitely my favorite thing in the world lol.

Very helpful video and I wish I could’ve watched it a few years ago when I was learning to ride. In retrospect, after learning the basic mechanics of getting on, it’s all a matter of trying to relax and let your subconscious balance take over. For some of us who think too much, that part Can drag on. I found that listening to music helps. I usually ride with open ear headphones. It’s very relaxing and I ride better.

I bought one of these like 10years ago. At $270CAD it was worth a try. Me, my son and my daughter all gave it a go. The learning curve was a bit much for us and it ended up being a door stopper in the end. Was worth a try for that price. Now though ... seems like they only offer top-off-the-line devices at outrageous prices. Not everyone can afford to throw thousands of dollars at something they may not be able to ride!

I get the difficult learning curve as we've been there. What I haven't heard is whether you're enjoying it vs other types of eVs. Abit like, I've ridden ebikes, emtbs, esk8s & such but end of the day, I gravitate back to EUCs. As a self balancing eV, by design its alot more riskier than most others but its also the most rewarding.

Most people who take a long time to “learn” are too fearful to trust a little more speed at the beginning. It’s counterintuitive that speed greater than 5mph will make it easier to balance, but this is exactly what makes it the wheel become more stable.

I think your method of learning was really good. It really helps if you are two who help each other. I was alone when I learned and the wheel took quite a beating from all the falls. But you could have used an easier wheel to learn on, a less expensive one. A small 14-16" without suspension. Other than that, great job both of you!

Its just like learning how to ride a bike for the first time. I literally fell on my Kinsong 14D. Within less then 1 hr started riding. Then more weeks practiced backwards riding. Got that down in 2-3 weeks. However my Inmotion V13. Same thing, so heavy. Took about the same time. But I do not feel comfortable going backwards since its faster and 110lbs going backwards doesn't sound fun at all.

With that pogo stick suspension and high pedals, you're right. I wouldn't recommend pads and spiked pedals for beginners usually, but the V11 is an exception. I learned on the V8, and at the time no one knew what pads or spiked pedals where 😂

I just got mine on Wednesday and finally had time to set it up last night and took it out for the first ride and that was way easier than I thought with max PSI. I had no help whatsoever but I went out late at night and started by holding onto a fence then went and that was it, my legs are already strong just from cycling up hills for years now so I think that helped me tame such a big wheel. I did feel hungrier than I expected after practicing for 30 minutes though so maybe it was more of a workout than I thought. I came home with not a single scratch on my new V11 after that ride. Still have to practice riding on the road next and uneven ground.

First off, great video and congrats on taming it. I would not call the V11 an entry level EUC, with its height, speed, torque and weight it is much more mid...but no longer a high end model like it was when it first came out. Keep it up and you will be going 25-28mph as your normal comfortable speed. I have worn through three tires now and working on my fourth. Keep the shinny side up!

I'll be 52 in July (just a few years younger) & just bought my inmotion v11 a few months ago. Other than an ebike I have never even so much as been on skates much less anything like this so don't let lack of experience deter you. Due to a flat (caused by me) & the time it took to replace it (waiting on new tube, changed it myself between working & wasn't sure what I was doing & didn't have hours to practice) so it took awhile to learn to ride it. However, cut out the time wasted due to the flat & add up the broken practice time I'll say it took about 2 hours to learn. Anyhow, now that I'm up & riding I love it & try to encourage all 50+ to get one, particularly those who like me tend to work often & don't get out much, it'll make you want to get out more & though it doesn't look like it it actually gives a bit of a workout, plus just being out in fresh air & sun, relaxing as you cruise which takes your mind off any stressor for a bit (everyone's life is different), you'll discover it has both physical & mental health benefits. In short, get one, once you learn to ride (which is far easier than it seem), you will not regret it- unless you find yourself not riding it as much. And all have an opinion on which to start with, I personally am quite pleased with the Inmotion v11 as my beginner; it has suspension which I required due to lower back pain, it has enough speed to grow into (34 or 35 mph) & overall seem to be a well constructed wheel for the price ($2100 is what I paid but I believe it has come down 2 or $300 now). I'm already saving up for one of the more expensive ones in the $4000 to $5000 range that has more speed & range just to validate how much I'm enjoying it.

What you'll notice when riding an EUC is that other PEVs become uninteresting, frustrating or boring. Most EUC riders would never consider reverting to a scooter/skateboard/or e-bike; I'm even selling all my cars, skis and motorcycle as I have almost all of my transportation needs covered by an EUC along with public transit.

So we both got a V11 and on the third day we’re riding and laughing. Then we decide to go for the Kingson S22 and we both kept going back to the V11. So I decided to go and get the V12or V13 the one that has fun lights and bluetooth speakers but no suspension. Love this one but we keep going back to the V11. V11 rocks for us. Now after riding for awhile our feet start hurting so if there’s a fix for this please help us out. Great video.

I did a tire change on my V11 after 5 months and the electronics stopped working. In motion said I had to buy expensive circuit boards, changing them in the hopes it would fix the problem. THEIR app said I had a bad motor but I checked the motor it works fine. There are a LOT of people having trouble with inmotion electronics, there are people saying they've got them delivered in a non working condition. u guys need to bend your knees more. it's dangerous to ride before you can proficiently step on and step off, the first skill to learn is stepping on and stepping off.

I made 2700 kilometers on mine, had only one fall while trying a stupid stunt totally expecting it. This particular model (v11) is the best, almost perfect all-rounder commuter EUC which forgives most of common mistakes. It rides over speedbumps at 30+km/h, goes down AND up stairs and curbs, goes through any weather not caring for rain and dirty slush. Just have to upgrade the mudguard for that, or your backpack will be full of it.

Nah, you don't want to do that. These wheels have a lot of power. Dropping it can cause the wheel to spin up and burn rubber on the floor / walls / furniture / you. They're also fairly heavy. An entry level wheel is about 30-40 lbs. The V11 in this video is 60 lbs. When learning, you just want to find a flat open concrete lot with lots of space. Preferably with a wall or poll to help mount initially and get the feel for the wheel. Wear proper safety gear so you don't get hurt if you fall. You will drop the wheel when learning. You can layer it with cheap padding, or buy a neoprene cover to protect it. IMO, it's best to buy a used entry level first wheel. Once you're done learning and no longer dropping it, sell it for what you bought it for and move up to something better.

Can someone explain to me why a EUC has to be over $500 to go more than 18mph? And why all of these "beginner" or "entry level" eucs are over $1,000?

@@ElectricRevolution the suspension on V11 is not stable in cold temperatures. It will keep leaking air . Regularly pump it 1-2 per week in winter, it is pretty solid in summer tho. Another way is pump the suspension more than the recommended chart .

@@ElectricRevolution it’s the pump. You lose about 25% of the press just from disconnecting it. Pump it up to your desired psi, disconnect and reconnect the pump, you’ll see how much it’s dropped by. Then pump it up again to your desired psi + what was lost, for an accurate inflation.

​@@ElectricRevolution well it does drop easily and if you did fill them up to your weight then by my judgement, the suspension isn't being used at all. Filling the suspension extra beyond your weight could make it better. That’s also important because there’s not always something around you that you can grab on to. Keep up the good work though
