The electric bike 4.0 is working!!! It sure is fun to ride with the crazy torque of the 'geared' down motor! Just got a few things left to add, such as an extra pulley guard and the regenerative braking thumb control.
How to add the 'on screen display' data.
You will need the following:
- VESC speed controller: goo.gl/dcz723
- Bluetooth module for the VESC: goo.gl/nEqHLB
- Android phone
- Helmet camera (such as a gopro)
Then follow these instructions to connect your phone to the VESC:
goo.gl/iZs4Qc
Then follow these instructions to get the data overlay onto the video: goo.gl/wChFsE
DISCLAIMER: The VESC6 was supplied to me from Trampaboards, however it was not a paid endorsement. It was supplied to me for review purposes.

I know people get bent out of shape about helmets, but bike helmets are generally rated for falling of a stationary bike, or maybe walking pace. They offer little in the way of protection at 45kph, especially vs a tree. You might want to look at using a helmet designed for a motorbike... or just not wearing one and enjoy the wind in your hair.

Tom Stanton Tomorrow will make a year that you've had the final version (at least according to your video blog) of your E-bike. How has it held up? What would you do differently? How often do you use it anymore? I have a regular bike with multiple gears that I ride a few times a week, I am considering building an E-bike for myself one day... are there any tips you would add to your Vlog having gained all this experience to a novice maker.

Great to see this bike up and running. I use the same Vesc6 Tampa on my 12s4p dual direct drive mountain board. You could totally cool the motor by adding some vents in the housing and then use a kitchen splash screen mesh wrapped and then glued between interior walls to protect against dirt and other objects from entering. I have done a similar thing for my Trampa motors. The print walls end up looking printing like this: | wall | mesh | wall |. I've found that the spinning motor itself is able to produce enough airflow to actively cool itself. Also its great you are going to 3dprint a cover for the Vesc but Tampa also provides a rubber cover which would also do the trick. looking forward to seeing more progress!

Hi Tom, thats really a cool ebike you have made and your video is pleasure to enjoy, thank you! I have one notice - do you plan adding some cover to second gearing to long belt? It seems to be quite dangerous that way. And did you calculate power transmitted via belt versus belts capalibities regarding power transfer and so on? And the last one - did you wonder over recuperation breaking and getting some energy back to battery? And can you post what type of motor do you use? Thank you a lot!
