Based on your explanation isn't it more of a wave then a series of arrows?

Series of arrows is just a tool to show that a field has a strength and a direction. It’s not necessarily a wave. You can have a field that has a certain value but until you place something in that field you won’t know the field exists. Eg a charge in an electric field, a mass in a gravitational field, a magnetic pole in a magnetic field.

@@PhysicsHigh phenomenal answer. I’m finding, as I learn, there’s something off about “waves” lol. Please don’t ask what I mean beyond my intuition hinting that something weird is happening.
