Thanks Jeff! A vest could be helpful in those situations but I haven't found a heated outer layer yet that was up to the job. Best to get a good wind/water proof barrier layer.

I got a battery powered vest last year off of amazon for about $60. Game changer. After 2 hours of sitting, it takes the chill right off and really helps me stay longer. I put it right over my under armor wick layer and under a heavy sweatshirt. My wife ended up stealing it so many times that I bought her her own. Had 2 kidney pads, front pocket pads and a center high/spine heater. All the right spots. 9/10, pockets and zippers could be better.

I’ve been listening to your podcast and on your gear for pheasant hunting posted a couple years ago, you mention selecting a shot shell size larger than 7.5. Have you, or would you consider testing various lead shot sizes as you do with steel and bismuth shot? I’m curious how penetration and patterns differ between #4, 6 and specifically 7.5 shot. Thank you so much! I just added that to my idea board. The hardest part is just finding the same shell in all 3 shot sizes. But it's a good test. I'll keep an eye out for shells.

I love your reviews, they are very informative! I bought the dewbu jacket and it leaks like a sieve I got soaked walking for 15 minutes in a light rain. I'm checking in with them to see how they handle this. I'll let you know.

Wow really? That's terrible. Mine did much better in heavier rain than that. Did it leave through a specific point or a widespread issue? I wonder if it's a coatings issue.

All along the hood top and neck seams and was wide spread on both the arms.

dewbu came through and refined me 100%. I will try seam sealer to see if that stops the leaking.

I am older and I have a hard time keeping my feet warm about 10 years ago or so I bought foot warmers that are called hottronic I think and they may be the best hunting weapon I have ever purchased if they died today I would buy a new set tomorrow I really can’t complain been a good purchase will they work all day in Antarctica I don’t think so but they get me thru most days

How bulky is the vest? I have been considering one for waterfowl as a replacement for a bulkier midlayer so I don't have to adjust to a longer length-of-pull in late season.

I wouldn't call it bulky, but it is significant. The best is warm, even without the power turned on. You know you're wearing it, but it wears well.

Sit motionless on a hard seat for 8 hours, you'll be uncomfortable. Nothing will keep you comfortably warm that long if its cold enough. It just helps you stay out longer until you can't take it anymore.
