@Elish UH jams: that's certainly the relativist view of things, which I don't subscribe to. However, I wasn't making some sort of era-based criticism of other "styles." I'm talking about the fact that ELO's songs almost always emphasized melody, both instrumental and vocal, to a degree that most other bands never approach. It's an overload of exquisite note-sequencing that takes the brain on an amazing ride. I'll definitely say that music that just kinda thumps along with little variance pales in comparison.
@echt114
@echt114 4 жыл бұрын
@Elish UH jams: No problem, my first comment was pretty short and absolute. I was probably also thinking a little about some criticism ELO has gotten over the years for their lyrics. That's never bothered me because I love their stuff for the musical part more than anything.

Lynne employed the LSO and its chorus for most of his bigger productions. There is evidence in some songs, I forget which, where you can hear them stopping and laying down their instruments because they adhered to the strict union requirement to never go past a certain time. Lynne would have to cover them during post-recording production.

They told me a great writer can make me cry in 3 minutes. Jeff can get me there in 30 seconds! I love this and I (with my 2 adult sons) paid my way to your concert at the Amalie Arena in Tampa 7-7-19 and it was much greater than I had anticipated! Thank you so much, Jeff! They loved the concert as I did! You're the best composer, conductor, guitarist and singer ever!

ELO much deserved induction to the rock and roll hall of fame and since that evening in Brooklyn, i can't stop listening to them. maybe the greatest band of all time!!! How come i didn't appreciate them as much when i was younger, maybe because i was a teen in the 80's and some of their greatest material was in the 70's. I finally realized Jeff Lynne is a great songwriter, composer and his great contributions as a producer as well.

Dang! 6 years later I was going to write the exact same comment word for word!! All I can add is that the whole album side 3 needs to be played to fully appreciate this genius. I love how each track merges into the next 🎶

I did see Jeff Lynne’s Electric Light Orchestra in New York 2016 Toronto in 2018 and 2019. They were voted the best live classic Rock Band in the world 🌎 and after seeing about more than 200 concerts in my life I totally agree. Let’s hope they tour one more time in 2022-2023. I will go wherever they play.🙏❤️👍

This is one of the best underrated songs Jeff has written. Also one of my favorites. To truly appreciate the musical genius of Jeff Lynne, one must seek beyond what is heard on the airways. I can honestly say there is not a single bad song on any ELO album. I could listen to every one and still want more.

JEFF LYNNE SAID GEORGE MARTIN WAS HIS FAVORITE PRODUCER OF ALL TIME. BUT JEFF WHO IS SO HUMBLE AND KIND IS AMONG THE BEST TOP 5 PRODUCERS OF ALL TIME IF NOT IN THE TOP 3. PLUS LEGENDS HAVE CALLED HIM THE BEST OVERALL MUSICIAN THEY HAVE EVER KNOWN. HE PLAYS ALL THE INSTRUMENTS, IS A FANTASTIC SONGWRITER AND SINGER. "HE CAN DO IT ALL" IN MUSIC SAID, PAUL MCCARTNEY. JOHN LENNON CALLED ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA (ELO) THE SONS OF THE BEATLES TAKING MUSIC TO ANOTHER LEVEL..." THEY OBVIOUSLY HAVE DONE THINGS WE NEVER DID." FOLLOWING THE RECORDING OF CLOUD NINE WITH LYNNE, GEORGE HARRISON SAID: "JEFF LYNNE MADE ME A BETTER SINGER, HE HAS SUCH A GREAT VOICE." RINGO STARR SAID THE FOLLOWING IN 2012: "I DON'T BELIEVE JEFF UNDERSTANDS HOW MUCH EMOTION COMES ACROSS FROM HIS SINGING...IT'S A BEAUTIFUL INSTRUMENT HE HAS AND HE KNOWS HOW TO WORK IT BETTER THAN ANYBODY."

Big wheels...brilliant. Makes small problems insignificant as it reminds me of the big picture, planets moving on and on through time, our wowed small. I always play star light, followed by believe me now, then followed by stepping out, standing in the rain, big wheels, summer and lightening and that’s me sorted mentally, to remind me of the bigger picture..it transports me to major mountain ranges, mountaineering in every weather condition imaginable.. Connects me with nature again....always dreamed Jeff would do an album based on oceanography after the brilliance of concerto for a rainy day nd the whale as well.
