​@@skygazer6898exactly. They were a stadium "super group" in the 70s, I saw them in Long Beach in '77 (IIRC) and at the Forum in So. Cal in '81. They're in the RR hall of Fame if that matters to anyone. Jeff switched to producing in the 80s. When he returned a few years ago, the response was great. So, highly rated.

Go back 40+ years. I lived in Sussex and had a really gorgeous girlfriend who lived in Bristol. Sadly, after a few months, we broke up. We were both young 19 something teenagers. But this song always reminds me of our time, mostly weekends, spent together. The line "... She came in from the west, a summer breeze, I couldn't rest...". I used to meet her at Gatwick coach station as she'd have arrived from the M4 to Crawley. And Bristol is West of Sussex. So the song fitted perfectly. The first time I met her in Bristol, I went by train. Even after we'd broken up, I'd play this song and cry my eyes out. C'est la vie Sandra C... I still wonder what she's doing now and trust she's happy? However, even after 40 years, I still think of her on a very regular basis. But when this song plays, that's me finished... :-))...

That would apply more to the mid-eighties onwards at the very soonest! (and that's being still a 9 yr old or so). All in all, yes, I learnt to appreciate ELO later in life, too (not that much later, though, about 14 when I enjoyed some compilation out there).

Sorry to break it guys, Jeff Lynne is an alien that comes from the musical galaxy - long ago and far-far away - with a starship known as ELO (the full name comes later - just like the "S" on Superman) . So nobody on earth come close to him and his celestial style. Look at the guy, he never gets old.
