But I'm betting you when movies (for ex GOTG has Mr Blue Sky in it) includes their music or any other old musics, these young millenials will start to appreciate the musics and you are not gonna like it because they are gonna fill the comment sections with their fantasy bullshits

Jeff Lynne (who said he didn’t like movies with violence or sex) apparently threw his hands up at the end of the film when this started playing and said it was the best film he’d ever seen! The song is great in that it sort of reflects on Eddie/Dirk’s journey and where he’s been and where he is now (although did he and the others really grow?)
@norm38443 жыл бұрын
Andrew Burgemeister agreed. Though sentimentally it’s perfect, one has to ask whether instead of growing everyone just relapses at the end of the film
@andrewburgemeister66843 жыл бұрын
WSP yeah, it’s the whole thing, things are better than when they were at rock bottom, but did they learn anything? Although maybe they feel more comfortable with themselves than they did at the start with their identity and who they are within the “family” and maybe that’s enough for them (which you could say is symbolised through finally seeing Dirk’s Dong at the end lol)

If you slow down your life and listen to this song in its full glory ... taking time to soak in every instrument, every transition ... marveling at the orchestra-band integration (unparalleled among rock bands) ... noting how smoothly and seamlessly they nail the re-entries to rock from the orchestral moments ... how the backup vocals are positioned in such beautiful harmonic tones, and in just the right moments to be their own instrumental contribution ... how the recording manages to keep the soft and gorgeous sound of the acoustic guitar strings out front, even inside a very large band mix ... the individual elements, the full and complete sound ... just all of it ... you will come to appreciate the wonder of this band and the genius of Jeff Lynne behind it.

Someone had requisitioned an Army bus and I remember being very happy and singing this song all the way from the British sector down to our compound in the American sector. Drove the others crazy. I've had several health issues to include Hodgkins Disease in the mid-nineties and a current diagnosis of Parkinsons, and part of my personal survival strategy is to listen to life-affirming music such as Tubthumping and this song.

Making believe this is what you've conceived From your worst day, I'm takin a dive Oh moving in line when you look back in time To the first day, I'm taken I'm taken And you and your sweet desire, You took me ohh, higher and higher baby I'm takin a dive. Off the stage. Hey!! Takin' a dive 'cos you can't halt the slide Floating downstream, I'm takin a dive Ah so let her go don't start spoiling the show It's a bad dream, I'm takin' , I'm takin' And you and your sweet desire Don't you do it , You took me ohh higher and higher baby

I can't tell how many 100's of times I have heard or listened to this song since my childhood in the 70's, but EVERY TIME, goosebumps.

Saw Boogie Nights when it came out in the theater. After the resolution and astonishing final scene, while sitting in shock as the sound system blasted this from the speakers all around me, I admit I sobbed a little at being bombarded by such powerful art.

Astonishing as in seeing “Dirk Diggler’s World Famous Dong” 😂?? I agree though, great song to end the movie on.

That was also my reaction to seeing *Boogie Nights*. I hadn't read any of the reviews and walked into the theater with almost no preconceptions about the film; when it ended I sat back absolutely stunned at what I had just watched. I later discovered that P. T. Anderson was only twenty-seven years old when he made this masterpiece.

Morgan Meadows I watched it for the first time a couple of months ago when it popped up on Netflix as a friend had recommended it a while back. All I knew was about the 70’s porn setting so I was a tiny bit skeptical. At the end I knew it was one of my favourite films of all time, a funny, sad and well-made film about longing for family and a sense of identity. I’ve rewatched it plenty of times since!! 🙂

My Gramma won't turn off the 70s channel on SiriusXM and I used to be annoyed by it until I realized the devolution of music and it was at its peak amazingness in the 70s, now I'm like her and I can't stop the music

ELO is like the production of the 70s and it’s more disco-like sounds mixed with the genius of the Beatles and their style. It’s really great

Ok? Someone with a quarter of a braincell can see that
@mrawesomeface41745 жыл бұрын
@@TheCompleteMental I'm pretty sure that she is insinuating that this is quality music or this is what music should be in contrast to modern music. Might take a few brain cells to comprehend that but, perhaps I am mistaken and you are actually agreeing with her and are complementing the song in some way.

Im using a bit of deadpan snark, must not have picked up on that. I've no doubt that she meant that in contrast of the music of today, in which case I have to call the existance of juvenoia into account. Plus the fact that many musical pieces in any time period are forgettable and bad, we do have some gems of today if you're willing to look and not read a book by the cover. But yes, this is a fantastic song

This songs use as the closing track to Paul Thomas Anderson’s BOOGIE NIGHTS perfectly encapsulates everything the film is about: life, taking chances, looking ahead and learning from looking behind… it also exudes the kind of “beyond disco” flavor that the music of the mid to late 70’s had, and that is perfectly, lovingly captured in the film. I mean this with respect to ELO, it’s like 70’s pornography, classed up and nurtured on steroids. I love this music.

If The Beatles and ELO could've worked on an album together, that would have been amazing. Why the freaking hell is ELO so underrated? THEY'RE AWESOME!!!!!!
@nikigrattan9635 жыл бұрын
George Harrison of the Beatles and Jeff Lynne of ELO did work together as part of an amazing group called The Traveling Wilburys. The group also included Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan.
